Hi Everyone

Please could someone clear this up for me.

I have qualified with EN in gels and used the light box that came with the course. (just checked, and it's a 14w box) every time I do gels on a live person, I get lifting and chipping etc..... I just went onto the EN site to order some new bulbs because that is what I thought was causing my problems. When I saw the box that they sell seperately its 42Watts?????? I am not happy with the dream gels and have been tempted to try IBD so I did some research and saw that you require a 32watt light box. So does this mean that EN are being crafty and giving light boxes away with the course that you can't really use on real clients????? so confused. I think I am going to have to invest in a new lamp.

I wouldn't speak for EN and their 'light box' but I can tell you there are much better, professional quality gels out there.

I use Brisa Gels from CND ... they don't come better, but there are many many gels and IBD is a very old and well-established brand and a good choice too; I have used it in the past.
I wouldn't swap now from my hypoallergenic, low heat and super durable, beautiful Brisa, but there is a huge choice.

If you use CND now, then my advice would be to stick to it with your gel too; you won't find one that is superior.

Hi Geeg

Thanks for quick reply. I would love to use brisa gels, but Alas,my CND distributor doesn't stock them and has no plans in the near future. I have heard all good about IBD, so I will give them a try.

In practice, is a 14W light powerful enough to cure gels? I feel somewhat cheated by EN who I have spent a small fortune with over the last two years.

I saw an IBD lamp that looks great and is 36W. I have taken gel off my menu for the time being until I sort my HUGE problem out. I have been really upset because of the problems I have been having with gel. I think my EN light box is fit for the dump!!!!!!

You NEED top have the light that goes with your gel system --- 14 watt is a pants light that wont work with the majority of professional quality gels.

Most peeps that do EN courses, don't realise that the products are NOT profesional quality. So ... they do some training with those .. then have to re-train with others and re-stock as well with professsional quality products and the accessories that go along with those products. It is an expensive route to market. It's not exactly a con, but to think that the products are salon quality is to not be fully informed of the whole truth shall we say.

Oh dear! Another example of needing to retrain with real people (models and teachers). PLUS needing to retrain with products meant for real people!

Find a gel that suits and do a good 121 or conversion course

Good luck
