Hi!!

I'm opening a salon soon and am looking into which product brand to use! I have experience with NYR and love it! Although I have heard amazing things about Eve Taylor aswell. Any advice on which brand to go for or whether to supply a bit of both would be great!
Thank you!

Personally, out of the two I would go with Eve Taylor.
I have heard good things about neals yard but they are a multi level marketing range that can be bought all over the place and are not a pro only product. Eve Taylor are made for professional beauty therapists to offer professional treatments. From what I read on here they get great results and can be bought from you as well, increasing your bottom line through retail.

That's brilliant! Thank you ever so much! :)

I have used both Eve Taylor and NYR Organic. In the end, I opted for NYR, because I personally felt so much more passionate about NYR. The product packaging, textures, smells, results, plus the company ethics.

I do suggest to get hold of some samples from both companies, to see what you like, and do your research.

As Vic mentioned, NYR is a direct sales company, and this was the only thing that nearly put me off at the start. But as I said, I loved the products so much more, and it just won me over the end.

There are plenty of free ongoing training days during most months of the year, throughout most areas of the country, please see the link>>>NYR Training | Training courses for NYR Consultants <<<The training available covers marketing, training for therapists, etc. The company is very supportive of therapists.

Also, a number of products are award winning, and simply sell themselves.

One thing to note, is there are a couple of training providers that offer facial and body signature treatment training in NYR Organic. At a very reasonable cost, which I can provide you more information with.

If you would like any samples, I would be more than happy to send some over. ;)

But as I said, do not let the direct sales thing put you off. I nearly made that mistake. I absolutely have not regrets taking on the products, and my clients love them too!

Best of luck with your decision!!

I'm always interested in skincare ranges so i just had a look at their sites.

I could only find skincare in the generic packs for different skin types. I couldn't find any professional only specialist stuff ( like masks, serums, intensives )

When I started i used Keaso and Eve Taylor. i dropped Kaeso for the very reason that although it was lovely stuff it didn't have specialist products so all I could offer was cleanse, tone, exfoliate, mask and moisturise. That's ok for a basic facial, but not much else. It is also available everywhere on the internet at the same price I could buy it at.

Neals yard may have similar issues to this.

I did notice quite a few of their training courses are set up around product parties and selling, if that's the way you want to go, then Neals Yard could be a good brand.

Hi Julier

Have you made an inquiry with us yet to receive our information package and samples?

Eve Taylor - Create Professional Account

When choosing any range of products, skin care or other it is important to be objective and realistic.

Look at whether the brand you choose offers professional use only products so that the client has an incentive to visit you for treatments and not just generic products that can achieve the same result at home.

Ensure that the brand has a good profit margin on retail products and provides cost effective professional sizes - both are essential to running a profitable business.

There are currently a couple of professional only products, but I do believe in time, the company will and are building on this. As I said, they are very supportive of therapists, and it’s definitely a brand that is building and going places.

They do a fab range of masks and serums, that feel high quality, and absolutely do deliver results.

I have been on some of the free training, and it is varied. I have found the marketing training valuable to my business.

My advice, research both. Try out samples, and see what resonates with you.

I think this is probably my biggest vote against neals yard is that there is nothing that can't be used at home. As has been said, pro only products, such as masks etc for salon only use, are what differentiates your treatments.

Many many years ago, when I set up from home I had really top range products. A lot of clients came to me because I housed professional ranges. The only exception was that I had Virgin Vie make up which was a mlm company.
I asked a friend and successful business owner if I should put it in my price list and she very abruptly said "no, it's just not good enough".
I was shocked. I liked the range but could actually see her point. What am I saying about my business? Every choice we make speaks volumes!

Good luck x

Neal's yard can't be marketed as been stocked in a salon unless you pay the thousands each month required to become an official stockist, you can only advertise the "party's" because it's a direct selling or Mlm company, they allow therapists to use it in treatments but your just not allowed to actually "stock" the retail or advertise yourself as a stockist - I looked into becoming a NY stockist and this is what they told me (I nearly keeled over at the stockist amount!). Plus local mothers at school were holding NYO party's so totally put me off anyone could do it.
I'd go with Eve Taylor out of the two because it's a pro brand and you have the option to retail with a good mark up. X

Are there any other brands other than these two that people would recommend? Thanks :)

I think Eve Taylor is now making that jump into the well-known brands. I was at the beauty show in London over the weekend and couldn't get within 2 meters of the huge stand they had. Unbelievable. Great to see a company who is well priced, all about the therapist and professionalism doing so well.
