Everytime manicure do you use varnish?

Is it with every manicure you do that you use varnish either colour or french polish or if someone has bad nails do you just leave with a S.O treat rather than use product?

normally with a manicure i polish, but if the client has very short nails or badly bitten nails and is undergoing a course of manicures, i buff to a really high shine and then oil and then leave them

OK thats cool as people I have had so far have really REALLY bad nails so I haven't wante dto put anything harsh on their nails and have left the varnish out.

sometimes if their nails are really bad a polish will show up how bad /short they are.
if they are this bad i tut a lot and recommend a course of treatments, say 10 weeks or similar
when i am able to polish them and they look ok, i praise the client saying ,
wow, today i think you can have a polish on, as you have done soo well, and your nails look human!!( or words to that effect!!)
i realy dont like polishing on short stumpy nails unless its a pale colour

mind you i do find nail biters will chew less if they have a polish on

normally i would enhance them if i can

LOL its one of those things where you doubt yourself early on I guess.
