Hi there? Where did you do your training for perming lashes at? You would be as well ringing your tutor for advice on the system you are using x

Hi

Not sure which system you use so its always best to check with MFI or training manual. With perming it is important that each stage is carried out correctly to gain the final result. The system I use goes as follows;
select rod size - Flex rod to aid positioning
place rod on the lid at the base of the lash - lift the brow to get as close as possible
apply glue to the rod then roll the lash onto the rod - check lashes are perfect at this stage making sure no lashes are crossing as this is what your end result will look like
apply perming gel and leave for recommended time - cover with film
remove gel
apply neutraliser - same amount of time as perming gel
remove neutraliser
dampen lashes to disolve glue then remove rod
apply regeneration cream with a disposable mascara wand (if tinting miss out until totally complete or tint wont work)

Hope this helps, I would guess if it didnt work the last time it would have been the neutraliser as this is the fixing stage and this gives the new shape.

Hi I did eyelash perm at college

However just started to do them after 6 years. I bought a salon systems kit but in the instructions it doesnt say nothing about removing the perming lotion before neutralising? should i remove it then put the neutraliser on? Ive done two now on friends and they dont seem to be working?

Hi I use the salon system brand for perming and do the following:

Apply rods to base of lashes, ease them onto the rod (glue not always necessary)
Apply perming lotion root to tip, put on film, leave for 12 mins
Apply fixing lotion, put on film, leave for 12 mins
Apply neutraliser, put on film, leave for 5 mins
Remove with cleanser

Only reasons i can think of for it not working is either the rods you used could be too big or the product has expired

Hope this helps :D

Hi

I do as above, can i just confirm you dont take off the perming lotion before putting on the fixing lotion etc.?

Also you say you use film? what type and how, when i did it at college we didnt use film?

Hi, No don't take off the solution you apply over the top with salon systems.
The film you can either buy on a roll from the wholesalers or to be honest i just use cling film, rip off a strip and pull taught placing over the eyes lifting the rods with it slighly and then place a towl over the clients head (hair side) and this will hold the film in place if you tuck it under. The reason for this is heat which will help the solutions develop.
Hope you get sorted as my clients love the results :)

hi i did eyelash perming at college and it really put me off when the glue was too thick and i tried to get it of and the client moaned because it hurt.

it never gets requested in the salon either.

Hi i would always take the perming gel off before nutralising as they have opposite effects the perm gel is breaking the bonds and the neutraliser is fixing them into its new position so surely you would need to remove the product which is seperating them to be able to reform it the new shape. Just a thought.....i personnally dont use the ss perming kit so not sure on there MFI I just thinking about the principals of perming.

Hi,

Im not quite sure why you are having problems but the basic routine for an eyelash perm should go something like this:

1) Remove any eye make up and cleanse the eye area with an oil free eye make up remover.

2) Make sure that the eyelashes and surrounding eye area is completely dry.

3) Select the rod size that you are going to use. The system that I use has rods from size 1 (suitable for oriental customers - very short eyelashes) to 4 (suitable for customers with fairly long eyelashes).

4) Take a rod, flex and carefully apply to the eyelashes as close to the base as possible.

5) Using an orange wood stick or toothpick whichever you find easier bend the lashes back on to the rod. Stick the lashes back firmly with the glue.

6) Apply the neutralising gel first as this will effectively make the lashes loose any existing curl and allow you to curl them to the shape of the rod.

7) Cover with clingfilm ( any brand works fine, i make mine into little 'cones' so that the clingfilm does not stick to the lashes)

8) Leave on for the recommended time and apply the perm gel for the manufacturers recommended time.

9) Carefully remove the rods by soaking a cotton bud in water and gently rolling this along the lashes until you are able to roll the rod off. This should take 2-3 minutes.

10) Finish by applying some petroleum jelly.

Hope this helps... :D
