Hi all - currently doing the eye tinting part of my course, and finding it a bit of a hit or a miss if I get all of the tint off without getting it on the skin under the eye:cry:.

I use the same technique each time i.e. take the residual dye off at the end of developing time with a cotton bud, until the cotton bud is clean, then remove the under eye pads, then take damp cotton pads over.

First couple of practices were absolutely fine, not a bit of tint to be seen other than the lashes, but when I did it as a practice yesterday there was tint on the undereye area.

Can anyone help or advise from their own experiences?

Hun do you use petroleum jelly under the eye area?
I do mine in a different way to you.
I put put the petroleum jelly under the eye then put on the cotton pad sheild. Cover lashes in tint and cover with another cotton pad.

When the tint has developed i squeeze the two pads together to remove tint then go over with damp cotton to remove the rest.

The cotton bud seems a lot of faffing about to me hun xxx

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Yep, petroleum jelly under the eye. Tutor is very particular about how we do things and insists on using the cotton bud to roll down the lashes removing the tint. But of course, the thing is that the cotton bud was clear of tint yesterday then I removed the undereye pads, and hey voila there is some tint on the skin - wanted to cry (very, very panicky practice client!).

If there is tint on the skin after you have removed the pads then you either need to make sure the pads fit properly and there is petroleum jelly in the right place. The tint will have got through into the skin by soaking through the pads and not enough jelly underneath or the pads didnt fit properly in the first place.

I find that getting the pads to fit properly in the first place one of the most fiddliest things to do and very frustrating but worth the extra time in getting it right.

Dont worry - you will get there.

Oh sorry babe I now get you!
The trick is to put petroleum jelly on the under side of the pad too. Cake it on chick. I remember this happeing to me! Do this and you will be fine. Do they make you split pads? xx

Yep, split the pads, both pads & undereye area coated with pj. Thinking now that possibly hadnt used enough pj.

I've coaxed my daughter into letting me practice on her later today, so will see how that goes - although she's insisting I buy some tint remover out of Sally's before we start :), confidence eh!

thanks for all the advice folks, very much appreciated. Love this forum!
