Hiya all, i am new to this site. Wondering if anyone can help me. I have a client who comes in for a weekly pedicure. Her heels are smooth with no cracks, however there are still traces of yellow hard skin on heels and balls of feet. She applies cream twice daily yet we cannot seem to get rid of the yellow tinge to her feet.. Have even thought about trying a cream with salycilic acid in it, but as this is usually only on prescription i would have a problem getting this.. Any suggestions??? All she wants is lovely pink feet!!!!

Have you tried a callus peel.

Yellow skin means the moisture level of the skin isn't right, is it quite squidy.? I would recommend to her to use surgical spirit for around 1 month once a day and then use a good foot cream once or twice daily. If applying any old moisturiser it won't make a difference it has to be a specialised foot cream to actually soak in xxx hope this helps

You need to get a microplane. We do a huge number of feet, it solves all our problems. Not expensive and has an immediate effect! Buy one!!
We also have callus peel, great product but I find it alot of faffing around, I like quick, easy results

Hard skin removal with scalpel would give her great results too. Tell her to book in with a chiropodist between your treatments x

Templespa do a sole balm with salicylic acid in called sole balm. It's quite pricey at £18 but very good. I am a consultant so am prob biased but I think it's ace xxx

Hi I'm over from hair, I've got really bad hard skin build up on the side of my foot where the little toe joins the foot, where do I go to get it sorted out? I haven't tried anything as yet but would it be a chiropodist I need or just a visit to a beautician that does feet? (Sorry if that's daft question but I know nothing about beauty or feet lol)

Welcome to the beauty side! :p

I'd get yourself a foot file and gently buff the skin every other day and follow with oil/moisturiser to soften and it should slowly reduce. You could start it off with a callus peel pedicure as well.

Interestingly (at least I think so!) it could be the result of congestion in one of the reflexology points. That area of the foot relates to your shoulder/scapula. Is the hard skin build up more on one side? Do you have tension in your shoulders? If so I'd still get myself a foot file and oil for feet but getting regular massages/reflexology is likely to help reduce the build up and stop it from coming back so much! Hth :) xx

Wow thank u! That's so helpful, actually I had a car accident just before Christmas last year, I injured my left shoulder and as the accident was my fault I never bothered with getting it checked out, it's my left foot the hard patch is on too! That's great advice thanks i really appreciate it xx

Sound to me like she might have toxins in her system if they yellow.
Secondly back shoulder area might need help.
And look at her lungs, does she smoke? Etc.
I don't agree with hectic weekly removal, more you remove the thicker skin grows back , same story as why you DO NOT cut cuticles (live skin) and don't use pedi blades anymore.

Good luck

No problem at all! Reflexology is amazing. I'd really recommend getting some treatments if you can. Also a good idea to go to the doctors and check out your back/shoulder and then start getting regular massages if all is ok with the shoulder. I imagine your upper body is quite tense anyway from hairdressing (raised arms in the same position every day) so adding an injury to that won't help!

Let us know how you get on :) xx

No, I don't agree with hectic weekly removal either. That's why I suggested gentle buffing of the hard skin and lots of moisturiser/oil...
