Hi guys

I've just installed Mozilla Firefox on my laptop but now when I open anything that has a video, it says additional plug ins must be installed. I go to 'install plug ins' and it goes through to a pop up screen that tells me to install manually.

I have done this, and the laptop says I have it installed when I go to control panal but every time I get a site or email that has a video it goes through again for me to install it. It's getting pretty tiresome I have to admit and I'm considering uninstalling it but have been told it's the best to use. Can any of you lovely techy geeks help out lil ole me?

Thanks

Oh, cool. Thanks :) I'll take a proper look at that when I get home.

So you don't rate Firefox then?

To be honest I do use firefox for certain things they have great plug-ins but I much prefer google chrome.

I know what you mean with all the messing about you sometimes have to do with FF

I have to say I like so far what I've seen from FF but it's just the plug-in's don't want to load

I'll take a look at the Google Chrome in a while. Thanks :)

Hey, looks great from what I've read, so went to download it and apparently I can't because the application download was unsuccessful. It won't load when I go to 'click here' if unsuccessful as my laptop block the internet from downloading content until I accept. I accept and nothing happens.

Any ideas? I got details in notepad form that I could view when it didn't download but it could be written in Chinese for all I know!

xx

Chrome should download and install OK, we have had no problems with it so far. It's already Sonia's browser of choice. It also is meant to be the fastest for running Javascript too.

Know what you mean about Firefox being temperamental about plugins though. I still haven't got Flash working with Firefox on my Linux box!

Hmm. Maybe I'll give it another go. If it doesn't load, I'll just have to continue to use IE and my Google toolbar

Shame, I did like FF.

Nope, just tried to download it again and a little box comes up saying "cannot start Application. Application download did not succeed. Check your network connection, or contact your system administrator or network service provider."

I'm connected to the net, so can't think what else it might/could be ??????

Ohhhh! Stamps feet very loudly!

xx

Hi
What you need to do is override google online installer and download the program to your hard drive. When you get prompted by google to run or dont run the program click dont run and then below is something saying if you are having trouble downloading then "click here" This again will prompt you to run or save, click "save" instead of "run", save the file to your hard drive and once its downloaded install from your computer not online.

Hope this helps, let us know if you have any more troubles

You probably need to download the latest version of flash to be able to play videos from youtube etc get *** here Adobe Flash Player

I use Firefox or IE7 and it's what the majority of people as i'm sure the google chrome is still a beta application meaning there is lilkly to be bugs and secutity risks in it still....

Google chrome is no longer in beta testing, they released a secure copy of the software at the end of last year.

I admit that ie and ff are the 2 most popular browsers, but Chrome has taken a strong hold since it was released back in august last year, within 2mths they had 3.2% of users, which is a massive amount for the time on the market. And if google browser goes as well as their search engine then watch this space for google dominating the internet.
