I think this is great for a first try!

Theres so many balayage specialists on Instagram that I follow! Take a look on insta theres loads who post tips and tricks and I love the candy shaw videos on YouTube.

Your tension should always be tight enough so that the hair isn't moving when you feather the product down on it.

Along with tension your saturation is key, gentle strokes; you're not trying to saturate until you reach the ends, i roll the pack of my hand on the product or use my finger to smooth it, this further diffuses the lines.

For better lift you can use foil or cling film to keep the hair moist, i like to wrap each individual section in clingfilm so it's easier to move them up and down to check the underneath!

Gina bott is good! Ashleenorman is my favourite.

Foil will give you a lot more lift than cling film if you package the sections well.

First Balayage..That is great!. I am impressed. Keep studying Gina and her placements she is amazing.

I think if thats your first, wow ,they are going to be amazing in no time weel done. I use cling film individualy,or foil ,or Embee meche whatever I feel will work best at the time.it gets easier and better every time.:)

Thankyou everyone! Hoping to get a few more booked in soon, now I've done one I can't wait to do more [emoji5]️ x

This is great for your first try! With balayage it allows the hair to get a little bit of color without overpowering it! I would buy a blur brush which really helps with blending your lines!!

Lovely, this was my first time too

Is the before your work too or just the after? Looks lovely tho your confidence must be growing in colour when you look at your finished results I would be proud of your work! X

What cling film do you all use, and what dispenser?

She came to me a couple weeks back after having a balayage at another salon, and then the before pic above was after I touched it up a little (I wasn't 100% pleased but I think it's trickey trying to correct someone else's work lol) anyway I booked her in again and that's what the out come was

Thankyou my confidence is deffinitly building at the start of this year I would point blank refuse colours because I didn't have the confidence xx

I've attached a pic of what it was like when she came to after the other salon xx

You've managed to blend it a lot better on the second time round which is probably why you didn't feel 100% on the first time doing it!

Have you been on colour courses or have you just thought you know what I'm going to start colouring again x

I did level 1,2 and 3 at college only finished last year but I don't feel the training at college was great at all, I trained in extensions after doing level 2 and I feel that's deffo my strong point, but after being in a salon nearly 2 years and being around colours and just studying the colour charts my confidence is better, I'm hoping once I've got Xmas out the way go get on a few different courses and really get back into colour :) xx

Yeah definetly get the busy period out the way and then get stuck in are you employed or self employed? Ask your rep about courses (that's if you have one) if not get down to the local colour supplier they do loads x

I'm employed, there's a sallys by me with a wella course in there training book for £45 do u think that's worth going on? X
