Hi, I have gone through previous threads on Foot Files.

Can anyone recommend a Foot File, and pro's and con's of that type.

Thanks

I use the foot file from Bio Sculpture, which is great for dealing with hard skin and is easy to hold too. Replacement file pieces are also available as and when they need changing.

Most of the major nail product companies sell their own versions of the same file though.

I particularly like the O.P.I. foot file..it leaves the skin really smooth and is really easy to use. It's not the cheapest around but I think it's well worth it I wouldn't use anything else now.xxx

Just had a look a the microplane one!

Wow! It looks fantastic! I will certainly be getting one..! Thanks for the link! I think used together with the O.P.I. file to finish, they will be excellent. One thing I do know is it's not worth wasting money on cheap files that don't really do anything and don't last 5 minutes!

I can't wait to get my hands that file! God I can't believe I'm getting so excited about a foot file on a Satuday night! I'm either very dedicated... or terribly sad!

Thanks for that link, that really looks like it would do the job.

Hi Judy, with the OPI File, does it have replacement heads/easy to clean?

Also how many of you retail foot files to your clients and what type?

thanks again

Hi again!

Yes, you can buy replacement heads for the O.P.I. foot file. You can get them from Lena White, or from Sally's or Capital stores. The file itself is about £15.00+VAT, and I think a pack of 2 replacement heads is about the same.

I wash mine with soapy water and I have a UV sterliser which I just pop mine into, but they do say you can sterilise them with disinfectant solution as well. I'm very interested in this microplane file! It looks a bit scary!! But so far, this really is the best file I've used. Used in conjunction with a bit of 'Soften' the client leaves with super smooth feet (I don't work for them-honest!)

I personally don't retail foot files to my clients. They do have some in the salon I work in, a bit like the ones you can get from The Body Shop. I usually just sell the client some cuticle oil and get them to rebook a pedicure instead;)

Try a sanding band attachment on an electric nail drill. It powers through callouses, cracked heels, corns and thickened nails in no time. Leaves a silky smooth finish reminiscent of the feet you were born with!

Someone else, or somewhere else:eek: said to do it this way, my question is, do you get a problem with heat build up with this method?

It's really important to always be moving the drill. Heat builds up when you let it sit in one spot for too long

I like the angelfeet pedicure file. Last for ever and gets the toughest calluses and also has a side to smooth. It cost more but it's worth it.

judyb6 did you buy one of the microplane foot files. interested to know what you thought of it, as seriously thinking of getting one.

I agree the best ones have changable grit strips,
Also it adds to salon hygine and saves you soaking and cleaning the grit pad, you dispose and the client is pleased to know you use new grit on her.

I remember having a pedicure a couple of years ago at a Jessica salon and their therapist are trained to use the electric files on the natural nails and the hard skin. It honestly wasn't uncomfortable at all although I can't say that it was any quicker than doing it manually.

I like the one by Creative. Not cheap, but it'll last a long, long time.

My name is Ivan and I work at Angelfeet, We manufacture the angelfeet file to distributors all around the world. Yes I know, the price seems to be a bit steep, but its the only foot file that can be sterilized to keep those infectious diseases out from reaching your customers. Its precision to pedicures is incredible, it doesn't compare to those cheese graters out there. You pay for what you get, and that's with a guarantee to work.

I highly recommend it to those who are savvy about sterilizing their tools and to those who want to have their customers come back to healthy, smooth pedicures. It is truly resistant to wear, and can last as many times more as those other ones.

We've had a client whose had her file for about 2 years and still works perfect! (it also depends on how much you use it to pedicure)
