Hi everyone

I'm hoping you can help me. I have recenetly qualified as a nail technician and have been coming across a few problems. I'm using UV Gel for the nails and have found that the nails are only last a few days before popping off. I've tried changing the glue, changing the nail type and buffing more on the nail.
Hope someone can give me some idea as to where i'm going wrong. I'm wanting to go mobile but I wouldnt get many customers and certainly no word of mouth advertising if my nails only last few days.

Thanks guys!x

What system are you using and how long have you been trained? Could you not ask your educator for a little assistance, maybe you are missing something out or just need to build in more strength. Claire x

Hi Claire
I'm using a UV Gel that I got with the course? Nailite Gentle Gel. Do you think I should try a different gel? Would you recommend anything? I've spoken with the tutor and she said that I just need more practice as i've only been doing it for a couple of weeks. Maybe i'm just being impatient. It's frustrating when I'm doing all the necessary steps but they only last a couple of days.
xxx

Whatever you do, DON'T buff the nail more in hope that the gel will last longer. There should never be any need to buff the nail more than neccessary.

Tell us a bit more about what brand of products you are using so we can direct you correctly.

Hi Anna

I'm using the Gel I got with the course - Nailite Gentle Gel. Would you recommend a UV Gel??
Hope this helps.x

Hi, I don't know the system you are using so I can not help with that part of it but in general a nail that breaks does not have the strength built into it (ie an apex), also it could be to do with the tips that you use, if they are not fitted correctly they can ping if you know what I mean. I would suggest plenty of practice, if you have a nail trainer then make it your best friend. Have a good look through the tutorials on this site as they are brilliant and will answer alot of your questions. When I did my gel nail course it was quick and not very informative, I ended up learning most if not more from this site and I will be looking to do a conversion to probably Brisa later in the year.

It does get easier and two weeks is no time at all so don't dispare just keep at it, sooner or later it will all click into place.

I use Brisa gel from CND ( Creative nail design). It is very strong without being thick and the clarity of the product is brilliant.

Thanks very much Claire. To be honest I probably do need more practice. I will have a look at some of the tutorials on this site.
Thanks again.x

Thanks Anna - I will have a try with that and let you know how I get on.

Cheers xx

is the whole nail coming off or are they snapping off below the tips ? where does the problem begin ?

also as nailite gentle gel is a soak off gel it may be that it is too soft for the length of extension you are creating.

I think it's the type of Gel i'm using. Your right though it definatley is too soft and I need too get lots more practice. I'm changing the Gel so hopefully i should see some inprovements over the coming months.
Thanks
