I have been doing manicures for years but am now interested in gel nails as I understand they can help your own natural nails to grow. In your experience is this true and how happy are therapists that use bio sculpture, calgel or pina purie?? It is hard to chose between so would love any feedback!

There are many different gels and none of them 'helps' nails to grow other than the fact that the gel or L&P, or any product applied, will protect the natural nail and keep it from breaking so in that way, one might say they are helped to grow.

No enhancement product physically affects the nails to help them grow and claims like that are false ... so which ever company promises you that kind of result I would give a miss as it is false advertising for a start. Other claims made by some of these companies are things like .. their gel is safer to use ... their gel is not harsh ... yada yada yada .. ALL false claims. All systems are safe and tried and tested on millions of women world-wide for more than 30 years now.

So that's my feedback .. for more do a search here on the site for the products you are interested in and you will find tonnes of information. Have fun reading and welcome to the world of salon geeks.

Totally agree with the above. Maybe try a few 'taster' days with various companies and see what it is you like about the products that are out there. I know that Bio and Calgel offer these 'try before you buy' sessions. Everybody has a preference to what system or brand they use and their own reasons for choosing them.

Personally I use Calgel which I find is lovely to use. I was particularly after a soak off gel and after doing research into a few brands and companies, this was what I chose and am very happy with them (plus their customer service and support is fantastic). But like I said, each and to their own. Do a good bit of research. Have them done on your own nails perhaps and see what you think.

Happy hunting :)

Thanks very much for feedback, will continue to research!!
