Hello all,

iv only been on here for a couple of hours and already had some brill advise thanks - I did my Acrylics course with NSI couple of months ago and now im trying to build my clients - I was just wondering if other nail technicians found that alot of people prefer Gel nails to Acrylic? I am only trained in acrylic and struggling to build clients, would it benefit me alot to do a gel course also to improve my chances of getting clients? tho the money situation would be tricky to fund another course at the moment!

Hiyah

Im a Gel tech as I love it!! but I am training at the mo in Acrylic as I have turned away potential clients due to them asking for Acrylic nails and I didn't offer them, but if I was you I would continue with acrylic and save like mad until you can afford to go on a gel course if that's what you want to do as it doesnt hurt having another nail system under your belt.

Sue :)

Hi hun it does you know harm in learning both systems as the more you can offer the more clients you will get.

If you get someone wanting Gel then you just explain you do L&P and how Gel is also a form of Acrylic and persuade them to have L&P instead.
Chat them into having L&P.

I do both systems and and do half and half.
I do have some die hard clients who wouldn't change but its worth trying.

yeah i totally agree just that it has cost me quite alot already for my Acrylics course and equiptment, is gel very expensive too? i found NSI to be so expensive but so many people advised me to train with them x

If you have already done your foundation training most companies do Conversion Courses which are reasonably priced.

NSI are doing an offer at the moment on the uv full hand lamp and the balance professional gel kit together. The conversion workship is a day I believe.

I'll send you a pm with the costs :)

I've noticed that if a client is going to a spa to get their nails done its for gel, due to smell issues. Alot of spas ban acrylics, even the no-smell, and prefer something "more natural", if you can call gel "more natural"

For a hair salon with an off-shoot for nails, its usually a mixture, same with typical nail salons. Some people just throw a UV sealer over acrylic as well.

It all depends on the type of client you're trying to attract or an area you're that working for. I'm not sure if that helps at all, but its just what I've noticed...
