....Bad news for those who don't.

Not my words, but the words of BERR - Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform!

I received a hard copy booklet to our business address today, and found it very interesting reading. Thought some of the content would be relevent to most on here, so after a bit of digging about on the net I've put a link to the PDF version on the BERR website below:

http://www.berr.gov.uk/files/file46035.pdf

Basically it is all about protection of the consumer, and I think the result will be companies will have to be very careful in how they structure and word their advertising campaigns in future.

It's well worth a read - I promise!

Thanks for that, it's very interesting!

One that got me thought is No. 18

18. A wolf in sheep’s clothing
Falsely claiming or creating the impression that the
trader is not acting for purposes relating to his/her trade,
business, craft or profession, or falsely representing
oneself as a consumer.[unquote]

Does this mean we can't go prowling to other salons and get a heads up on how their business is doing?

(not that I'd dress up as a sheep, might be a bit too conspicuous!)

There are a few "grey" areas within the content, I agree. It is though a huge step in the right direction and hopefully it will provide greater clarity for the consumer.

Only problem is, it's another thing that has to be "policed".

I got one of these booklets too and lots of people sprung to mind LOL.
