I am a newbie to this site, but am an NSI qualified nail tech. I would like someone to let me know if I have been informed correctly by one of my college tutors, that a childs nail plate is greasier and softer than an adults and if this can cause lifting.
Cheers,
Claire

Not sure what the answer to that is but i don't think applying enhancements to a child is wise.

Exactly my opinion, but look at Acrylic Nails anyone? - Burnley - Healthypages - Complementary Health Forums.
It has infuriated me because in her other post Having a vent - Healthypages - Complementary Health Forums she is comparing Creative and NSI trained individuals with the likes of the NSS techs and is advising that people practise on minors! I'm sure there have been many angry parents resulting from advice like this.
I would usually ignore people like this, but she is tarring us with the same brush as the untrained idiots who are making a mockery of this industry.
Sorry to be so petty, but maybe you'll understand when you read both links.
Gggrrrrrr

I really hope your the lady who replyed to her comments.....i have to say you were spot on hun......well done.....xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yes I am. I was so mad because to further fuel the fire, she didn't even bother to ask me if I was qualified in anything else - and I am. I, like many others, have worked really hard and I want to do well and offer the best service I can. So ignorance from the likes of her really naffs me off.

personally i use nsi but am internationally trained in all types of nail systems then took specislised product courses for each nail cosmetic hose.
nsi is fab product and yes nail lifting occurs from oily nail plate improper application and client non conformance too.
kids are not recc to use esp with acrylic cos most kids nailsare more waxy just look at any kids hair its nice glossy shiney nails they perfect then grow up mes our bodies up- dont use on kids ever. practice on a dummy if you have to.
i only have one client wh is nal biter who nsi atractin lifts on but my other ladies not onethem lift at all afer 3 weeks still looks good.
so nail biters are naughty,

Hi
I would not perform a professional service on anyone under the age of 16, but I will allow my 12 year old daughter to have short enhancements occasionally for the school holidays. This is because I know that I can maintain them properly, soak them off properly, and that she knows the do's and donts of wearing them. Some may disagree with this, but its a personal choice, I know my daughter, she's mature enough to respect them, and now that she's growing up a bit I think its nice to let her have them as an occasional treat.

Because of this I can tell you that she does have more oily nails, and they are more "waxy" and softer. Whether this applies to all youngsters or just my daughter I could not say, as I've never done anyone elses nails of that age
