A few of my clients have added me on facebook which is nice most of the time :) but now one of them broke a nail and wrote it on fb and when I read a few of her friends comments about it really makes me annoyed! My client has been a nailbitter all her life and she´s 30 something now so I told her even if I did them really short that it would take some time for her to get used to them and that due to her own short nail they are more fragile now in the beginning until her own nail has grown.
Now some of her friends go on and on about guarantee of nails and how they should last for more than 2 days! But when she phoned me upp she told me that the nail broke when she tried to open a seatbelt that was stuck in her babys carseat and half the nail is still on so she broke it it didn´t come of.
Now my question why do people think that there´s guarantee and refund and free fix when it comes to nails? I meen if you buy a pair of jeans and fall the first time you use them and you end up with a whole on your knee you wouldn´t go back to the store and say you would want a refund becouse you would think that a pair of jeans would last longer than a day!
Now I don´t say that I never would do a free fix if I for some reason do a bad job then ofcourse I´d fix it for free but I don´t sell unbreakable nails, they can break if you hit them hard!

Feels som much better now when I got to whine about it here

Dont panic, this happens a lot with clients I find - or certain clients i might add. I find it frustrating too how they expect too much and when they are heavy handed with their nails and don't come in and have them regularly maintained they moan when one snaps/breaks. Another one of my bugbears is when they state they aren't happy as the nails have 'grown too fast' or lifted slightly - as if its MY fault. I bet they don't moan to their hairdresser that their roots start to show after 3 weeks!

Its best just to stick to your guns and explain that everyones nails are different and react differently to the enhancements, and have a guide line. Its not your fault she snapped her nail on her babies care seat - your weren't there forcing her hand! She was too heavy handed with them.

Dont let it get to you dear x

everyone is different. I think that you shouldnt offer one if you dont want to. you are in charge of your business and its your decision.
HOWEVER

I do offer one. Its one week for nails, Why? well its very simple for me, I do it to set myself apart from others in the area that dont. Its a bit of extra value and I want people to come back to me if they are having issues (even if they caused them).

So, maybe you are wondering if I am overrun with people coming back? Nope, not at all. If anything , its helped me to educate the client. They are more honest about what they have done, they accept my advice.

I also say to them, Look, if you are going to insist on opening that drinks can and breaking your nail, then I will fix it for free for you today, but next time its £3 . they are always fine with it.

we offer one with a spray tan, lash extensions, and other treatments.

For us, it has given us a competitive edge, BUT it is not very everyone and if you are considering doing it, then think it out first and put a policy in place. SO I dont think its right or wrong to offer one, just what you feel more confident and what is best for your business.
