Ive just joined this site so I hope ive posted in the right place!!!

So a couple of months ago I took the plunge and had Extensions fitted as I had several weddings and parties to go to this summer and my own hair is extremely thin and short.

I found my stylist via Book of face she had lots of before & after photos, positive comments, and worked at a local hair salon.

I was told they were Chinese human hair & paid the £185 to have them fitted. (theyre keratin nail tip ones apparently)

After 2 weeks they started becoming pretty frizzy and knotted all the time. I followed all the after care that she had given me and used the products she had advised me to use nothing seemed to make any difference.
I contacted her and she told me they had probably dried out as she did warn me that the Chinese hair dried out quick and to try a hydrating hair mask - I did and still no change.
I did contact the company she purchased my hair from and they asked me to get her to contact them which she never did stating she no longer had my order number for the hair even though I said if you gave them your details they could find the order number.

Anyway after a month I couldn't even do anything with it! If I wore it down or in a bun it completely matted up to the point where it took me over half hour to get every knott out and a whole brush of hair!

Then the other day I suddenly noticed thick black shiny strands in my hair (the ends had started to fade so I could see them) I asked another hairdresser I knew and she said that it looked like its been mixed with synthetic hair and would definitely explain why its so frizzy & matted. I then tried the burn test on a couple of strands.

I pulled out a few of the black strands and when I held them over a flame they fizzled and melted so theyre definitely synthetic.

I spoke to the stylist who then got all defensive telling me I couldn't have a refund as she does not do refunds and they told her it was human hair and basically implied I had made it up despite having another hairdresser tell me and testing the hair.
She said she wont refund me as its not her problem its the hair company she got it from and said she would contact them and if they refund the money for the hair then she will refund me that - But it would not be the price I paid her.

I have no idea where I stand shes making out Im being unreasonable saying im being rude but shes advertising them as human hair and theyre not ive paid £185 for plastic hair that's so matted I cant do anything with and im having taken out :(

Feeling pretty upset as I had to save for ages for them and was looking forward to having lovely long hair for all these weddings instead ive been left with a frizzy mess

I have contacted citizens advice for some help. Just wondered if anyone else had ever had this problem and what happened :( x

If you've been wearing them a couple of months, nobody is gonna refund you. Sorry.
Best put it down to experience, and have them removed. For £185 you're never gonna get top quality human hair.

I agree you aren't going to get a refund now. Put it down to experience.
However I disagree about not getting good quality for £185. I have an offer on for £180 and it's angel remy I'm using. The hair is fab quality and I've just done a removal and refit after being worn for 6 months x

Just to give you an idea, i pay about £500 , for a full head of extensions. My maintenance appointments alone, can cost over £100. I have never ever had any problems. I do think £185 with fitting is very cheap. That price would put me off.

'Nice hair isn't cheap, cheap hair isn't nice'

That what I was taught whilst training 😃

A salon near me charges £460 for angel remy hair (my friend works there) I can not justify charging that for 2 hours work.
I do offer other much more expensive hair. I was just pointing out that you can get good quality hair for that price.

Have you ever tried chinese hair? I have one client who has a low budget and we use chinese on her. The hair has been fitted and re-fitted and the hair is fabulous 6 months on. Like the day it was fitted. More than I can say for most indian remy suppliers.

I have yes tried Chinese hair personally, hence why I would never use it for my clients.

Just saying that I have tried Chinese hair myself, I didn't like it, therefore I wouldn't use it on my clients.

I may only charge £15 then what the OP paid, but I don't charge a lot for fitting.
But either way it really has nothing to do with the lady above (sorry, I don't know her name) and they was no need for her too comment, quoting my post, was they?!

[QUOTE=Nails

How very rude!!

Sorry, it was just my opinion, maybe i should of worded my post differently. Like I said, I once (few years ago) had extensions fitted, which were Chinese hair and they were awful and I have pictures too prove as I took the matter further. Maybe I had a 'bad batch' but from that experience, I was put off Chinese hair.

I can guarantee you that post was not about this thread, it was concerning my friend and her ex, if I had something to say, I would say it, I am a 'blurter' and not one too hold my thoughts or feelings in!!

Without sounding rude, who did you train with? because technique and fitting capability also are on a level par with hair quality. The hair can be the most expensive top class hair around yet if your fitting is bad the whole look is bad

As a professional extension specialist you trial all different hair types before you make any judgements. Just because you had rubbish chinese fitted doesn't make all chinese hair bad. Although the I only fit it on the 1 client, the quality has better than some indian ranges I have trialed and tested.

I had a bad experience with indian remy that I had fitted but that doesn't mean that all indian remy ranges are ****, otherwise we wouldn't use it.

Very true.

I trained with a lady local too me who is accredited/qualified it hair extensions, I am going on a further training course next month (hopefully) with connect-to-hair to learn different methods.

It's just my opinion from personal experience ... Since then I haven't used Chinese hair, after what happened to me 😊

True, maybe I was bad to pass judgement on all Chinese hair from my personal experience.

I am just afraid to go anywhere near it after the mess it left my hair in.

Who is this lady then?

I'm confused as to what the question is 😐

You said "a lady local to you, trained you" I asked who??? I'm trying to help you here but you seem like you obviously don't need it
