Vivienne Mackinder, founder of HairDesignerTV, Fashion Director of Intercoiffure, 5-times winner of the North American Hairstyling Awards, and the 2009 recipient of NAHAs Lifetime Achievement Award, transforms the recent trend of chalking into an edgy, high-fashion look. Chalking, like make-up but for the hair, allows for the client to try something exciting and new for the night.
Pastel Edge embraces the chalks inherent playfulness and bursts with energy. Watching teens experiment and have fun with hair colouring inspired Vivienne to infuse the light-hearted joy of youth with an edgy twist to classic principals. Often, clients arent comfortable talking risks with the colour of their hair, but the impermanence of chalking installs the confidence to take chances and dare to be bold.
The collection includes styling variations of the same cut with each transforming the chalk hair from clean and smooth to sexy with movement. Also, Vivienne demonstrates how chalked colour can accentuate strong, geometric lines or enhance the fun playfulness of a bob. All of the images were shot on location at HDTV studios during a photographic workshop.
