To all waxing addicts... Let me ask you....:wink2:My daughter's best friend has very very hairy knees (not anywhere else) and she is only ten years old...I am aware that you should not wax that young but she is really conscious about it especially when she wear her school uniform or go swimming...To be honest I am puzzled and don't really know what to do. Shall I wait until she reach puberty or shall I get rid of these hairs......??????????

Theres been a few posts about waxing young children on here. I do not agree and wouldnt wax a child this age ,unless they were really concious of the hair. She obviously is really embarrased about it,poor thing. I would say go for it. Make her feel better about it. You may want to wax a small patch first though just so she knows if she wants to continue with the rest.If she really dosent like it she prob wont even care!

Realised there is a few posts about the subject and everybody seems quite happy to wax young children.Just wanted to know about the pros and cons because I am not so sure myself...Maybe I am making a big fuss about it.. after all, I am not going to inject BOTOX to this poor child. Still want to be on the safe side with all these health and safety regulations you are never too sure..Thanks all,.,.,.,.:green:

I would never wax a child for vanity but would consider it if a child was embarrassed about excess hair

When my little girl was 10 she was really conscience of the dark hair on her legs. I tried telling her it was fine but it did start to affect her confidence when she was going swimming and dancing. I shaved her legs for her and the wee soul was sooo happy, she said they felt like silk. I do agree shes a bit young but if that one gesture gave her confidence then wheres the harm. Anyway getting to the point, one night i was waxing my legs and she asked if she could get that done , i said yes (although i knew she couldnt tolerate the pain. I put a small bit of wax on her legs and when i ripped off the strip her face went chalk white. She said she would just put up with the hairs after that.

Girls seem to be developing younger and younger these days, and nothing shatters a child's confidence more than being teased for something that is out of their control ... in fact this is often how bullying starts. I've done a few 10 year olds for eyebrow waxes etc and they feel so much better about themselves and the boost to their confidence is so worth it. It's so sad that they have to have it done, but heck we live in a very sad world.

Sorry babes didnt mean to go and look at the other posts, just meant you are not the only one wondering this :)
You may want to check with your insurance company if it will cover you to work on a child aged 10.
Let us all know how it goes! xxx

I'm not sure about the legal side of it in the UK, but here as long as the child is under 16 we always get the parents to sign a consent form just to be on the safe side.
As for waxing, I had girl who was a family friend's daughter who had dark hairs just on the front of her shin but no-where else. What we do is just wax that section and because the rest of the hairs are fair we leave them and they blend just fine. So perhaps just wax her knees and leave the rest until she is older?

Ive just waxed a 12yr old. She was so miserable and the hairs even showed through her thick black tights! Her mum was very supportive and said that she didnt want her to start shaving, I think its worse to shave - you can get some seriously nasty cuts with a razor.

She was really nervous but, bless her, she didnt complain about it smarting and was so pleased with how smooth her legs were afterwards. Much better in the long run because she'll only have to do it every so often unlike shaving which is a time consuming regular occurance.

Just checked with my insurance policy which covers me but the record shall be kept for at least 7 years after they reach the age of majority. As a result and thanks for all your advices she had her first wax yesterday. She loved every minute of it and even told me that is what she want to do when she grows up...Oh well, I am happy if I made her little world a bit brighter and who knows she might be one of the salon geek members soon....:green::green::green::green::green::green::green:

It isn't a moral issue unles we are talking about doing a BBW on a child. There isn't any problem with their skin either. Just make sure the child wants the service, not the parent. I have waxed plenty of kids through the years, 6 and 7 year old Spanish girls with long dark hair on their face. Lots of 'mustaches' on little girls, one 7 year old with full underarm hair and quite a few youngsters legs.

Parental permission, a signed release form and the parent present. And a happy child!
