Hi, just wondering if any geeks have tried Cambridge Diet or Lighter Life?!
Am seriously considering something along those lines and wanted some help/info/advice!!
Anyone?
Thanks xx

me me me !!! i originally used it after 12 weeks on lighter life which got too expensive, if you can last the first week you'll be on a roll ! i felt fab after a couple of weeks, the downside is that after about 6 months i started putting the weight back on, people say its because your metabolism changes ?

I am willing to try anything now to be honest!
I had a gastric bypass Aug 2005 and lost 5 stone but the weight is starting to creep back on now (virtually impossible supposedly!!) Still got quite a few stone to go. Saw an article with someone that had lost 24 stone in as many months!

well i can only go by experience and i felt great on it, like completely detoxed (prob all the water and the peeing !) you seem very determined and you DEFIANTLY need to be to get over the fist week

I know of someone who is on the Cambridge diet atm, and tbh while she is on the drinks she looses weight, but as soon as she starts eating again she starts putting weight back on....

I personally can't see how this diet can be good for you, our bodies need to eat healthy food and a sensible amount of it and then most people should be in an acceptable weight range. This is of course only my opinion  xx

I'm going to get shot again for this but I dont care.

Please do not try this diet regardless of anyone's "miracle" stories of weight loss.

The fact is, if you deprive your body of essentials so much, you will lose weight, you dont need to spend great amounts of money on meal replacements to achieve that.

My mum lost a great deal of weight on lighter life last year. She came off the diet in October only half way through the programme on the advice of her doctor. She has been rushed to hospital due to the effects that diet has had on her health and she is still suffering from the effects which include hair loss and dreadful nails. Just to pre-emt anyone who might want to ask how do I know that her health probs are a result of this diet, these were the words of 2 separate doctors, my mums own doctor who told her to stop the diet, and the specialist who saw her when she was rushed to hospital.

Look into this on the internet and you will see that one of the main ingredients in these diets is corn/maize syrup, because its a bulking agent to make you feel less hungry. The problem is that this ingredient is extremely bad for your liver, and following scans my mum has been told that her liver is what they would expect to see in an alcoholic.

I know some people have had success with this diet, but thin and ill is no achievement in my opinion. I know that some women have felt so desparate to lose weight that they have been seduced by the miracle promises of these types of diets, but the fact is that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is by a healthy balanced diet and regular exercise.

Sorry if I've offended anyone by rubbishing this diet, but an opinion was asked for and this is mine.

Hiya

Just to jump on the band wagon, I've got to say I support Michelle 120% in her comments. I too would urge everyone to stay away from this, and to be fair, all fad diets. I'm not a skinny minny that can eat what she likes, I have always struggled with my weight, going up and down like a yoyo... And I have always had issues with my body image and probably always will to some degree... I'm not saying I've tried all the diets out there, but I have tried a heck of a lot!! And all I can say is this... Yes, there are the odd success stories, but a very large percentage (around 90%) will fail on these diets, and what's worse... If you dont end up being ill as in Michelle's comments, you will eventually more than likely put on the weight you lost and more within 6 months to a year.

Believe me I know how much you crave the "instant fix" and what we are willing put our bodies through to achieve what we are led to believe is perfection.
But think about it, fast unhealthy weightloss brings a myriad of problems with it, not even just health related, too name but a few, you can become "furry" get loose saggy skin from rapid weightloss, stretchmarks from yoyo dieting, dull skin, etc etc etc

Michelle is unfortunately right, there isn't any better solution for permanently losing weight than a healthy balanced diet and exercise. At the end of the day, if you consume more calories than you use up then you will gain weight. The best bit about a healthy balanced diet though is that you DONT have to give up all your treats, chocolate, crisps, take aways etc, so long as you dont over indulge too much or too frequently.

Quite frankly I love this topic and I could go on and on and on with hints, tips and counselling (I'm in the process of creating my own weightloss program) but I dont want to hog the whole page, or feel like I'm lecturing people. If anyone feels they need some hints or tips or someone to talk to then just PM me and I will help all I can!

Remember: The first step to successful weightloss is to start loving yourself. You are beautiful!

J Xx
