Hi everyone
I am currently doing my NVQ2 and have a practice test paper to fill in and revise but I'm not really understanding the question which is:

"Name four nail shapes that may require correction"

do you think this actually means nail shape (eg square, oval...but do these require correction? in any sense? apart from filing) or do they mean Brittle nails and other nail conditions that are treatable?

I have my test on Saturday and sods law i will write the wrong thing in and revise it so thought I'd ask more knowledgeable people what way I should go in answering this one...I'm well and truly stuck!

I would have to say they are looking for simple nail conditions that can be corrected. Ingrown, pseudomonas, onychorrhexis, brittle nails are really the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Hmm, I'm doing my NVQ 2 and have just had a quick look in my textbook. I have found a chapter on problem nail shapes and how to correct them.

I think you are not looking at oval, square etc. These are nail shapes but do they really need correction? I don't want to give you the answers lol :o

I would concentrate on the different types of shapes you can get with nails, problem shapes and what could need correcting because they don't look 'pretty'.

Does this make sense?

I think it would most likely be things like flat or ski jump nails that would be corrected by applying enhancements hth x

This is what I assumed it would be and would answer with those type of nail shapes.

i know a girl who did it last week and it is the fan nail, bitten nail, ski jump nail and duck billed nail because she asked me afterwards if what she'd put was right!!

Definitely wht they are asking for is nail shapes like these and how to correct them .. NOT nail conditions as were listed in another post above.

Thanks for all your help its much appreciated....
Claire did you find the nail conditions in the Beauty Therapy Level 2 book? I know the answers I just wanted to read more about the conditions (Concave, Claw, spoon and hook nails)
thanks
:)

I found this in my Complete Nail Technician book by Marian Newman as I'm only studying nails.

ahh thats why I can find it !- but think it might be worth getting hold of that book just for reference.
thanks for coming back to me!
Good luck with your NVQ

Thank you, you too.

I found the book really helpful for me through this course. I would definitely recommend it for anyone doing nail courses.
