I've just started doing gel sculpts and the heat spikes are incredible! I didn't think the gel was that thick so aren't sure how to prevent them :-(

Strange! I've never had heat spikes from that. Is it everytime? Could be done to naturally thin nails?

If the clients nails are thin/thinner (over buffed) then this can happen.

It will also happen if your gel is applied too thick. But saying that I have had 2 clients who have experienced heat spikes, both of which have no nail damage & my gel wasnt applied thick. I will say that sometimes some ladies nails are that bit more sensitive (just like some people are to more sensitivity to the pull of their hair than others for no particular reason)...
