Hi everyone, i was hoping you can help me...again!

I am completely new to the nail industry as some of you may know with no qualifications what so ever in it.

I have been doing a lot of research and I have decided that I would like to undergo gel training with Bellissima Gel. I am aware that I need the basic manicure training before hand and they are now offering that which is fab!

What I need to know is, as I havent got any qualifications do I need to have an NVQ or foundation or equivalent before I should attend their training?

They have said that as long as I have the basic manicure course I can undertake their training and that their training is accreddited. But im just concerened that if I dont have an NVQ etc before hand I may at some stage need to achieve this.

I want to make sure I go down all the right channels and that I dont miss any stages.

Thank you for your advice, as always its much appreciated :)

As you are completely new to the industry you need to do good Foundation training with a reputable company like CND. A decent thorough foundation course will give you the basic knowledge you need to be able to learn your skill and trade. I don't know wanything about the training offered in Bellisima Gel, but I can only advise you to go on the repuation of the company in terms of education and product......

CND ticks all the boxes for me and too many people on here have ended up paying twice over because of deficiencies in their original course.

I went on a complete foundation course tht wasn't CND and whilst the course was okay, I've since worked with CND and wish I'd gone with them to start with. Loads of people said it to me but I stuck with my original choice. I wish I'd listened!! The support you get is great and the products are fantastic too. As regards an NVQ, you don't need one but I would go with a reputable world class company if I were you, like vetty, 8've not heard of belissima gel. Not to say they're not good!! Just not heard of them and I ds a lot of research last year too.

Hi both,

Thank you so much for you help, i keep finding so many different things that contradict one and other.

I completely agree with you Vetty that many people have paid twice over and this is what i am extremily keen to avoid. I have also considered doing my training with Bio-sculpture for their beginners course followed by their gel training as i am more interested in gel and i believe CND give you acrylic training in their foundation course?

I am reassured that you dont need a NVQ. I dont know too much about manicure training Bellissima offer but once i ahve got my foundation under my belt i am keen to use their products as i had a good chat with them at the Beauty UK this month.

Are there any other areas i need to look at or is it really as simple as undertaking a good foundation course to get the recognisable certificate? Will this enable me to get a job in a salon should i want too? i am more interested in becoming mobile but need to make sure i cover every angle!!

Sorry for the loong essay!!

Hi, i am new to nails too, and i realy wanted to learn to do a soak off gel first. After doing as much reserch as i could, i decided to do my basic manicure course with CND, and do the Bio Gel course after, Bio also offer a manicure course, but not in all areas, so i thought with CND having such a good reputation, and so many people saying how great there training is i would do there manicure course, and then do the gel course i wanted after.
I am sure after i have learnt and feel confident with the bio, i will learn more and do a L+P course with CND later.

opi do a basic manicure and pedicure course also a foundation course which covers man, ped, acrlyic, gel and fibreglass.

if you do go on a course make sure its accredited.

Hi Rachells,

I know exactly what you mean when you are looking for information and you want to do everything as you should in the right order there are so many different opinions. My head feels like its going to explode with info!!

I like you were considering completely training with Bio first as i also wanted to do a soak off gel more, but now i have the exact same opinion as you to go with CND first with their 6 day foudndation course (especialy as it covers both L&P and gel!!) and then move onto Bio after.

PLus i believe there is a CND taining academy on your doorstep! cant get much better than that lol

xx
