Help I'm confused

im doing a course and am now doing gel.
we use edge products...
the teacher is explaining about builder gels etc.. she does not use the edge product in her own biz...
when i went to capital for some gel she recomended, as were practicing on each other .........clear gentle soak off..i asked about builder gels and the lady there said the edge dont do them... can anyone tell me what the difference is and how come some called builder gels and some just gel..
i know.. i know .. maybe im just missing something here... but a bit of knowledge goes a long way... even if is spell badly at times....:irked:
