Hi,

I am hoping someone can advise me....

Earlier this year I qualified as a Nail Technician. I have done many sets of gel nails, on myself included, without any problems and producing great results.

However, today I did a full set of gel nails on a new client and they looked perfect and smooth up to the point of buffing but then once applying the nail polish the gel itself appeared to bubble - I don't mean air bubbles caused by overworking the gel - this was something different. It was only really on one thumb nail.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might have happened? And if so what do I need to do to resolve it without removing and applying a new set!

I used the same process and same product as previous so I am not sure what has caused this problem.

Please help!!

It's possible that the gel has not cured correctly on the clients thumb nail.
This may be because she had her hand in the lamp & her thumb nail was facing out of the lamp iykwim.
When I cure my Brisa, I have the client put just the thumbs in to cure, then 4 fingers on 1 hand & cure etc as I'm working.

Also, do you need to change your bulbs? If you have been doing a lot og gels as you say, maybe it's timget some new bulbs too.

I would check your lamp as Bev mentioned above, I have had this problem when my bulbs needed changing.

Hi,

Thank you for replying to me.

I do use the method of doing the four fingers on each hand first and then the two thumbs so I think the thumb was in properly. Once the problem arose I een tried removing the top layer of gel, which came off easily and then adding a new layer and curing just that thumb on its own, and the same thing still happened.

I did some gel nails just a few days ago and they were fine so it is really strange.

Perhaps it is the bulbs in my lamp. This may sound stupid, but how do you know/check when they are at a stage of needing replacing?

Thanks for your help.
