Help with a business logo

hi

i am trying to think of a logo for my salon. my name is La'Dea Beauty and i have looked at the goddess symbols but they dont look so nice.

is there anything that you need to avoid when designing a logo or has anyone any tips? eg. has it to be simple but catchy etc.

arghhhhhh!!!!!! im so frustrated!!! ive just had all my brochures etc printed, didnt know the logos were so cheap!!! i would have deef had carl do it for me. ah well, you live and learn :cry:
