Help with google rankings

When I first set up my own business a couple of years ago I spent lots of time advertising on yell.com, freeindex etc all the free sites and I always came top on google searches when anyone searched extensions and hairdressing in my area.
Now over the years Ive neglected it a bit thinking it was there and I didnt need to do it again. Ive just typed in hair extensions west midlands and im nowhere to be found Even if i zoom in on my address on the google maps!
Does anyone know why this could be? and how I could get it back?
I've spent all morning refreshing my free ads but still no luck, will it take a bit of time to register?

Unfortunately this is something you have to do very regularly, keeping up in the rankings can be time consuming and frustrating.

Check keywords, metadata, and use the keyword tool in Google Adwords to find out what people are searching for in your area.
