Hi all, I had a 1-1 yesterday and used brisa gel paint clear as opposed to buffing to a shine. I have done myself a new set today, and can honestly say, I can not notice the diffrence.

I done one hand with top coat, and one just buffed to a shine. The hand with the gel top coat looks more bulky, they both look exactly the same, in terms of shine. Given the fact that this costs close to £25 a bottle so therefore you would have to charge an extra say £4 per application, would you all say it's worth it, as opposed to just buffing to a shine, or using air dry.

I always use a UV top coat, it doesnt cost any more because you save on time and don't use half as many files so the cost evens itself out,
i don't charge extra,
the difference comes when clients want to paint there nails in between appointments,
when they remove the polish the great shine is still there with a top coat, if you have buffed the shine disappears with the polish remover,
once you are used to using it, it wont look bulky, hth

I was just thinking, as me being new to the industry and not having that many clients, would it be justified to offer this to my clients and charge. As most my clients only have forever french, and for me to justify the £25 I would have to charge an extra £3 per customer, (10 customers) just to get my money back, and as I can see, no real difference.

Just after opinions,,,, xxxx

A bottle of top coat goes a long way, and if properly applied, will not add bulk. I'd go with it every time personally. HTH

I was advised to use a UV top to help get some of my time down .I love it , and will never go back to buffing to a high shine, much easier, quicker and also helps seal the acrylic. How many coats of the top coat did you apply? :)

I find using a UV gel top coat gives you an added strength, i don't use this on all my clients, some like it some don't. Just remember to use this after a 180 grit file so it grips the the nail, if not it may chip off.

xx
