Can anyone recommend insurers for home salons, would anyone be able to tell me a rough cost?(ive got everything else sorted but this)PM me

Does anyone know, if i offer a FULL waxing service (brazilians/hollywood) am i needing a certificate for that kind of waxing or just my college waxing certificate for insurance purposes?

Are there any other treatments that cause home salon insurance prices to rise? and am i needing certfied training for everything - i have my nvq 3.

Thanks in advance geeks.

This really depends on who you get your insurance with, some providers require you to specially trained in intimate waxing, whilst others do not. Give your insurers a call and check what their policy is so that you can be sure you are properly covered.

Your college certificate is fine but remember that's only insurance. You still need to know what you're doing. xxx

Im pretty sure it says on The Guild site that you Must have a certificate, but im not sure it ment NVQ waxing or specialist extra training certficate, would you know?

oh yes, i know, i have done them, im just wanting the certficate to prove it, and make sure there is nothing i dont know (im sure there will be):green:

As i already know a lot, it was a toss up between the Whole ball of waxing Dvd or training. But ive figured, if a certificate is what i need to get insurance, then the Dvd is pointless, and i dont understand how people are offering intimate waxing with only dvd training and NO certificate? Are they not insured? or bothered about a certificate i wonder?

Cant afford extra training as yet, but im going to get the insurance to cover it first so im not swapping from insurers, id like to be with one thats recommended from waxing professionals on here.?
Anyone got any suggestions?

BABTAC have posted on here saying that as long as you are qualified in basic waxing, you do not need an extra qualification in intimate waxing. The reason being that they trust people to be adult about it not be stupid ebough to attempt intimate waxing if you don't know what you're doing.

DVD's a a great thing to look at but most of my students have dvd's and still come to me for training, so that says it all.

Sounds like you know what you're doing so you'll be fine I'm sure. If you're ever unsure on something to do with Brazilians, just PM me and I'll talk you through it. xx

So far with my insurance company - Professional Beauty - the only extra I have had to pay is for Hopi Ear Candles which is a few extra quid per year. I think any invasive treatments or specialist treatments such as teeth whitening, advanced electrolysis, ear piercings above the lobe in the cartilage area etc etc will warrent an increase in premium for the therapist offering these sorts of treatments, but each Insurance Company may quite well be different, so its always best to check with your own insurnce provider... but I havent been asked to pay more for specialist waxing which I have had training in both, plus I regularly watch my WBOW DVD which was my inspiration to go for the intimate waxing in the first place.

Hi,

The Guild require you to hold a specialist intimate waxing certificate in addition to a general waxing qualification in order to insure you for the treatment.
