Hi

I'm a mobile nail technicinan, still relatively new to all this as haven't been doing it all that long and still faffing around trying to build up a client base. Eventually I'd like to just do mobile and work from home but I feel in these early stages it would be good for me to do some salon work as well, mainly to build my confidence. I'm not sure how to go about it though. I've seen ads in the paper for nail techs but they always want very experienced ones and I wouldn't feel confident in going for that yet. Should I just go and see some salons and say to them I haven't been doing it very long but I want to get used to salon work? Also, what should I put on my cv? As all my work I've ever done has been office based so all I can put on there in relation to nails, is the NSI and Sparitual course I've done. I just don't know how to go about all this, the last thing I want is to find myself in a salon job where I feel out of my depth as I've not had that much experience. How did everyone else get round this?

Many thanks

Definitely do your CV.

Even though you are new to the nail world there are many other skills that are needed:- Communication skills, organasational skills, ambition, team work etc, etc. These are all skills that would have been developed in your previous work so be sure to point these out on your CV.

Get in those salons with your CV, ask for the manager/salon owner and be confident and proud!

Do put it on your cv hun. Try going round to the nail shops ask them tell them your not very experianced etc. Or you could take a different route by going mobile and bulding up your client base.xx

Good advice imo. Do you keep a record of any work you have done? Maybe you have some pictures of your work to show them? Some salons also ask to see you do a set too.
