my personal favourite for helping me through skint times (and save the planet at the same time) is Don't Dump That

I got lots of stuff from there, mainly furniture and electrical goods, plus I get rid of loads of things too! It's a great site to meet new people, get things you need and re-house items you no longer have use for!

Im a member of that but around this area it isnt that big compaired to freecycle

im not much of a fan of freecycle - i prefer the format of dont dump that. whats your local forum? as I am in contact with some of the mods and they are always wanting to boost member numbers and promote it. I'm a member of the lincoln forum and we have nearly 4000 members! It's massive they have many items posted every day :)

wow

thank you so much for sharing

Thank's for the great links...

I've signed up for the nappies thing it's brilliant. xx

I'm a big fan of Freecycle; am on local groups in Shrewsbury and Telford. We've found it especially good for de-junking our house, as we both hate throwing good stuff out, and we've also got some nice stuff off Freecycle too.

if you like freecycle ruth why not check out fdontdumpthat.com too? I prefer the format as its a much fairer system so everyone knows who has what and whos offering what, just a thought xx

Did anyone see the wifeswap where one of the couples were freegans.
They would go to the supermarkets at night and raid the bins.
Supermarkets throw out tons of perfectly good food every day just because the packaging is damaged .They were coming away with bags of perfectly good stuff.
Im not saying we should be doing that, but what a waste ,sinful really. You would think they could find somewhere for it to go other than landfill.

yeah! I think its a fabbo idea, me and landfill dont get on very well, we have a war and I'm winning so far lol

Am very tempted... there looks to be a Shrewsbury group so I'll check that out. There's talk of the Telford freecycle group moving to a forum based system too, so that might make it more like dontdumpthat...
