I woke up this morning feeling dreadful ... like on the verge of fainting and my head is spinning. i normally have a day off in the week but our other busy was so busy this week that hubby couldnt cover the salon.

i just couldnt face leaving the house today and have diverted my calls to my mobile so i dont miss any. i have no appointments or i would definetely go in..

but im still feeling guilty about not going in this morning...

hubbys mum is coming soon for 4 months so will help us alot.

im 29 weeks now i know it was the best thing as i dont think id have even managed to get to the shop tbh

help im really stressed that im going to miss walk ins today and its just one day... so much for relaxing

how does anyone else deal with closing the shop down for a day..do you do anything to let people know why its closed?

do you normally put a sign up as i didnt get to?

Aw I hope you're ok soon - and here's me moaning cos I've got a cold!

Have you got any staff help yet? Sounds like it might be a good idea to organise things so that another member of staff is there every day with you. Plus if your unwell you have someone in to open up for you. x

yeah i have staff help not every day though i do two days alone but shorter hours.

i decided on the days they are there they can open and il go half a day so i can rest abit.
normally its not like this week as hubby goes in two/three days.
i think i was just burned out i feel alot better now from resting.

it really showed me how much those days at home makes a big difference.

so i wont do a repeat of this week again. and try to be superwoman

sounds like you've got a touch of vertigo, this can be bought on by stress. get cover sorted.

Do you have any friendly neighbours near your salon, another business owner for example, who you could call if you are off sick, just to get them to stick a note up on the outside of your salon door? I know it's not perfect, but just to inform people the salon's closed due to staff sickness etc. . . .
just a thought.
In the grand scheme of things, if you didn't have any clients booked in I'm sure one day won't make a lot of difference. As you said, the rest has probably done you the world of good.

yeah we do i will have to get there number 2moro for the future. they often hold the key for me if m staff close and i need it to open then they keep it for me until the morning.

its a good idea though as you never know what will happen.
and yeah it wasnt the end of the world i was thinking all sorts this morn

also can you transfer calls to your home number or mobile?

yes luckily. i set it up on monday so i could that.
so yesterday i diverted it and its good i did as i got a few bookings for today so i woud have missed them if i did have the divert function.

i got them diverted to my mobile and it does it a little sound before it rings if its a diverted call. so i know that i need to answer with my posh voice...lol

well hun, you are getting it sorted. be prepared for this to happen, make sure you have all the systems in place, so if you cannot get to the shop, you can relax at home knowing you've done all you can.

preparation is the key.

you feeling a bit better now chick?

yeah defintely feel better this morning.

thanks.. will get the shop number next door this morning too.

i actually only thought to myself yesterday its almost end of august already i cant believe it. last time i checked it was june

so what measures have you got in place when you go on maternity leave? you said you were 29 weeks.

tbh dont have any havent really thought about how far i was until yesterday. thats really bad.. since i got the salon times gone so fast.

my mum in law is coming when im 34 weeks and will pretty much takeover.
couldnt really afford to put someone full time in the salon at the moment.
so she is coming down. my partner has got cover from when im 36 weeks so itl be between the both of them.

with my son i worked until 39 weeks but he was overdue.

but il see how i find it this time.
