This is the point I'm making!

There is a 'pay off'! Even from washing your hands several times a day.

It's accepted that hair needs help: from hard water, from colour etc. Who questions having to use conditioner??

Hands in water; removing polish; removing a gel polish or Shellac. There is a payoff! There are many products that don't damage the natural nail but solvents do! (and water is a solvent!) We, as a professional industry, needs to acknowledge what research is showing us!

There IS a payoff that the hair industry has acknowledged. Why can't the nail industry understand it?

I thought we did, hence the solar oil mantra! If solar oil is conditioner for nails, is IBX like a keratin treatment??

Omg so much to think about! I think I am going to do a separate price list for IBX rather than an add on! I also see some of you mentioning you would do cuticle work after applying IBX is this correct ?

It's going to improve condition of the nails, not suddenly make nail polish last three weeks!!!!

That was a tongue in cheek comment, but I do have a couple of clients that can go 3 weeks with their Vinylux. One of them did change to Gelish when she had problems with delamination on two of her nails.

Ok so this is what I have come up with: I currently charge £20 for shellac or a spa manicure (would like to charge more but unfortunately have lots of competition) so I am going to do a separate IBX treatment price list and offer it as a special promotion to celebrate the launch of IBX for maybe Feb and March.
IBX as a stand alone treatment including cuticle work and file plus solar oil application £10
IBX with spa manicure £25
IBX with shellac £25

Get some before and after shots to prove what IBX can really do and then add £5 to all the above, from April onwards. Also then offer courses and offer discount for maybe if they are booking 5 treatments for example and do a percentage discount, so say 5 treatments 10%, 10 treatments 15% etc...

What are your thoughts? By the way doing a price increase on the 1st April.
Xx

Ok, I'll be totally honest. If you are putting your prices up in April, price your IBX treatment higher, and don't put it up in April. I think that £15 is too low, and I know that there are other therapists etc, but will they be offering this? I have only recently put Shellac up, so I know where you're coming from, but I would market this as a specialist treatment. You can add a bit to it like a massage etc, but I think £20 for IBX is probably the lowest you should go - then do offers etc - pay for 5 and get the 6th free....

Once it's written down, it's hard to change it. Think of the time a Shellac takes, and the time IBX will take!

Hope you don't mind me commenting!

Just jumping on the IBX band wagon, I've read all the responses, one question that's not really been answered is... Do you charge extra for REPAIR AND IBX? Do you charge less if just using IBX without the repair? Or do you use repair every time anyway???

That's up to you. You can use repair every time if you're doing gels on top or just when needed if not. Some charge extra for first treatment as there are 2 coats of ibx.
We charge a fixed amount for ibx that can be added to our regular mani or shellac which makes it easy to work out.

I'm trying to price my treatments, I thought about £20 for a stand alone first treatment to include a basic mani, then £15 for ongoing treatments. £10 extra on top of my shellac/acrylic price for first treatment under shellac or acrylic, £7 for subsequent treatments. Is that about right??

I personally think its confusing. Prices are probably about right but we just add £7 to a mani or shellac. This will go up soon as well.

I charge a fixed amount for first application & then a different amount for subsequent treatments. Regardless of whether they need the repair or not, most of my clients have this along with gel polish so I do use the repair.
I'm very quick at the service now using a LED lamp also helps with speed & I see IBX as an investment in my clients nails, so personally don't feel the need to charge a lot, that said my time & product is covered.
It's like prices with anything, there are guidelines given to help some people charge more some the middle & some less. As long as the product & you time is covered you'll be fine.
Making it clear for the clients to understand is important :)

Having spoken to louella belle the distributors and a trainer at Olympia about how much to charge I add £8 for first treatment and £5 there after!! It doesn't take too long to do 10/15mins - and means most people can afford to take it up with their manicure xx

It's been very interesting reading this thread as I'm thinking of investing in ibx. What is getting me worried is the pricing, I'm not sure if my clients will pay £10 on top of their shellac/gels.

How have you guys found it? Since I have introduced shellac/gels I don't get clients for manicures. And from all my clients so far only one of them has damaged nails so I can see her benefiting from it. But the question is will she pay x£ on top of her shellac?

But if I look at it at another angle maybe I can attract new clients who have damaged nails already? I'm really confused.
