Hi all
I'm now doing minx and was wondering if anyone uses the infra red lamp with other treatments?????
I remember at college them say's something about using it before a back massage as it warms the muscles before the massage.

Thank you

I was just thinking about what other treatments i could use it with, wonder is anyone else is getting alot of use with it for other treatments?

I only use it for minx and i put it on when its cold lol

Hi,
Yes Kezza you are correct. Part of our swedish massage assessment was to use infra red on any particularly tense/tight muscles to warm them prior to commencing massage.

Heather

The lamp we used in training for massage was with a red bulb. Does it matter that the Minx one has a clear bulb?

It doesn't matter what colour the bulb is as long as it creates heat.

What you must remember when using a heat source from an infra red lamp is the Inverse Square Law this is basic health and safety which should be taught in massage pre heat treatments and sometimes I feel it has been overlooked with Minx.

It's quite hard to explain in writing so lets say you place the lamp 2 feet away from the skin and it's not warm enough, so you move it to only 1 foot away. It will not be twice as hot it will be FOUR times as hot.

This is because the heat intensifies the closer it gets.

have a look at this diagram, ithink it explains it better than words:green:
