Hi guys, i have been on a course today and the technician was taliking about insurace. Any way to cut a long story short she was told by a large company she works for that insurance companies are no longer covering beauty therapists to work or do any treatments on pregnant ladies. Has any one head about this, i will ring the insurance tomoz but may be worth while you all checking with your own, to be on the safe side.

If you are unsure what cover you have then you must contact your insurance provider for clarification. Some insurance policies have specific warranties laid down in the policy wording that may relate to the treatment of pregnant clients and these must be adhered to at all times.

Guild membership insurance allows you to treat pregnant clients as long as you adhere to the specific warranties in the policy wording and follow the specific treatment & product contra-indications in relation to treating pregnant clients that are laid down in your training. Of course if at anytime your client indicates during her consultation that she has had previous miscarriages or has experienced other medical problems during previous pregnancies, you should refer her to her GP or Midwife to obtain written consent for a treatment to go ahead. If your client has told you that she is pregnant you should always ensure that she is feeling well before commencing any treatment as her health status could have changed since her last appointment.
