What about your stock, is this not insured? Or your equipment or cash on the premises? You will need employers liability if you do decide to employ someone. I would also cover business interruption incase the Hairdressers burns down (happens, read that thread recently poor sod).

I have heard that Salon Gold are good and I recently used More Than for Business which were ok but £££££ but it covered everything.

The Guild can offer you £2 million of Public, Product and Treatment liability cover, and stock and equipment cover as an addition. To discuss your specific needs, feel free to give us a call on 0845 2177 383 and one of our advisors will be able to help you.

Also, if you quote Geek as a referral when joining, we can give you a £10 discount.

Hi, it sounds like you have Freelance Insurance covering Public Liability and hopefully including Treatment Risk - check your policy.

Freelance cover can be extended to include stock/ equipment and ours includes Money (Freelance Hair & Beauty Insurance). Not all Freelance policies provide cover whilst you are resident at one permanent location - check your policy.

If you are looking to employ a member of staff (Employers Liability Insurance is compulsory once employing staff), you will need to switch to a Salon policy - a jump in the premium but the policy provides additional cover including Interruption to the business/ Money etc.

However, if you (with the agreement of the salon below) take on a Freelancer like yourself who has their own customers and willing to share (vice/ versa) then you could both operate independent and rely on your own Freelance policy - check hers/ his policy before starting them.

Check the lease and to talk to the salon whether they will allow you to employ or use a Freelancer.

Good luck
