im wanting to rent a table in a salon to expand my business but a bit worried that it wont pick up due to the financial situation of the coutry.
Is this the best time to expand? i will be dropping down to days in my job to expand my private business.

thanks

I've just reduced my office hours down from 35 a week to 24 so now I will have mondays and fridays off to do nails. It is a finacial risk but I just decided to go for it. Until you do it you never know if its gonna pay off or not. I don't imagine I will be very busy for the first few months but I can spend that time finishing off my website and delivering flyers.
Good luck with whatever you decide hun

Now I know I'm not based in the UK, but we have the dreaded crisis overhere to...
But I'm going to open up my own salon in august, and will be totally depending on my salon to earn any money:green:
So If you are confident in your work, and produce great nails (which I'm sure you are) then I'd say go for it!

It has been proved time and time again through several financial crises that small indulgent services prosper ... yes they do.

When women can't afford a new car, kitchen or bathroom, their nails are a small bit of retail threapy that makes them feel great about themselves.

So worry not about the financial crises ... you need to concentrate on whether or not you are good enough at what you do to attract the clients to you and to compete with others. If you are, then stop worrying .. if you are not sure then don't go for it because if you are not sure your clients will not have confidence in you either.

I am sure we know full well ourselves if our work is good enough to compete or not .. and not just our work but our attitude to the customers and to our business. If you are prepared to give it your all in every area then you will do well. AND your business opportunity will not be a gamble but a dead cert.

I opened my salon last September and i thought the same!
It has taken a few months to get a good customer base but the last 2 months have been really good.
Tuesdays and wednesdays are usually quite quiet but this week have been fully booked.
I agree with Geeg, people are forgoing their larger purchases and treating themselves to little luxuries instead.
I think it's a great time to open!

Thanks everyone, and well done to everyone that has gone for gold x
