Hi,

I fancy trying out the new minx decals but wondered what do you all use as a lamp. Do you need to buy the minx lamp or is there an alternative??

Just trying to keep costs down. thanks

You need a source of heat that is practical for working under. Any infra red lamp will do the job if the wattage of the bulb is high enough. You can even use a hairdrier but I have found this to be totally impractical for me.

The lamp sold by the Minx distributor is a very good one and you can vary the heat level on it which I find fab but it is by no means the only lamp that will do the job.

First time I minxed Mrs Geeks toes we didn't have any kind of lamp so we warmed them up on the lid of the AGA!! Worked a treat but not too portable to use in the salon
We used the photo of them for the Minx brochure!

I needed a lamp before the Minx lamp was sourced so I bought an infra-red lamp from Ebay...... It looks a bit 'industrial' but it does the job perfectly...... Also, with me being mobile it is portable!

is there a specific working temperature ?

The infrared lamp is a 150w.

The clients hands should feel warm and the minx needs to be warm enough to go limp IYKWIM. You can use a hairdryer and Gigi even used her Aga before she had a lamp.

I use one of those heat lamps you can get for back pain etc - works fine:)
