hello all, i am looking for some advise on lamps.

in our salon we have 36watt daylight uv lamps and we perform uv gel nails as our most popular treatment. but we also perform the 14day gel polish manicure and bought some led lamps as found curing them in the uv lamp too time consuming but we dont like having all the lamps around (it looks so untidy) plus our led ones have had it and we are in need of one new uv lamp too so thought id look into the 2 in one lamps.

what are peoples opinions?

can an 18watt (12 uv & 6 led) cure uv gel that is used to being cured in a 36 watt lamp for 2 minutes properly or would this then take longer?

they seem to be a coil uv bulb in the roof of the lamp and led around the edges so surely the uv won't cure the thumbs of the uv gel very well?

please someone help us any advise will be grately appreciated, thanks in advance x

there is a sticky thread at the top of this forum with information about uv cured products which covers lamps. You need to match the correct lamp to the brand of products you are using, since you haven't told us that vital information it's difficult to help!!

All LED nail lamps ARE UV lamps ... ALL of them.

LED is not a different kind of light .. it is a different kind of bulb (someone is marketing on peoples ignorance). Nail lamps that use LED bulbs are just as much UV lamps as are the UV lamps using traditional bulbs, LED just delivers the UV in a different way.

LED lamps do not do the job of curing gel polishes or gels any better or any worse than traditional bulbs; they just do it in a faster time. Is that such a great asset? Not really except for certain circumstances such as when doing one new nail or repair. Otherwise, appointment times are the same.

Choose which ever you want but make sure your gel will cure with LED bulbs ... not all products are suited to a fast cure and not all are formulated to be cured super-quickly. As always, check with your supplier.
