Hi everyone

Does anyone know anything about the waxing course offered by 'The London School of Beauty & Makeup'? NB: the final qualification is an IHBC Level 2 Certificate in Depilation.

I would like to re-train as a wax therapist and am having no end of trouble finding courses that:
1) just focus on waxing - strip waxing, hot waxing, intimate waxing, etc.; and
2) are longer than one or two days.

I've had pretty much every type of wax over the last twenty-odd years and have waxed myself numerous times but, beyond that, I'm a beginner.

I really want to go on a course that will teach me properly and give me a recognised qualification (I just don't think the one-day courses are anywhere near long enough). The above course runs for six hours, every Saturday for 10 weeks and seems to be the only 'long' course out there ... ? Are there any others that I'm unaware of? (I have a young family, so, ideally, need a relatively local course that takes place on weekends or evenings.)

I've seen lots of positive posts on here for Kim Lawless; Kim if you're reading this, could you let me know whether or not you run any courses that would suit me?

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Hi Annabel. Well, I'm with you on this one and I don't believe that anyone can learn to wax in one day, but we have to start somewhere.

When I was putting together my Absolute Beginners course, I planned on it being 5 days long. The trouble with this was the cost. It would have been around £600 and that would exclude people who really want to become wax pro's and those with a natural talent for waxing, but can't afford it.

Also, I know that just because someone has done a 'long' course it doesn't make them good at waxing. Some of the best waxers I've seen have only been waxing a short time.

So, here's what I'm doing. The beginners will now be an affordable 1 day course and it will focus mainly on practical and technique. I believe that if you get the technique right, then you'll be able to wax, regardless of the body part (excluding Intimate). It will cover mainly strip wax and some non strip wax.

Students can always do more skill building days if they need it.......but if they don't, then they haven't paid out for something that they didn't need.

Then, once you've done your one day, you have to go away and practice, practice, practice. Only once you're confident, you then book on to a Speed Waxing course to fine tune your skills........You can choose to mens or womens.

Then, you go on to do Intimate Waxing (mens or womens).

All of my students can re-train free of charge if they don't 'get it' the first time, no questions asked and I don't give a certificate until I feel they are up to standard, so there's not an army or bad waxers out there.

Another advantage of training this way is that you may decide after one day that waxing isn't for you, so no great amount of money wasted.

Hope that explains it a little for you. xxxx

That sounds really logical to me Kim. Allow the student to build their own training programme and follow their own interests. And of course we should encourage redoing training in all aspects of beauty treatments!

Thanks so much for the advice, Kim and fozzyo. Kim - I'll send you an email via your Website today.

Best
Annabel
