Hi all

I am hoping to embark on geeky training sometime in 2010 (likely to be makeup, spray tanning, nails and maybe some other things too, aptitude and finance permitting!), and have started to seriously think about all the things I need to do in preparation...one of these is getting myself to look the part!
I know that I will be a walking ad for my business. What would you notice about a beauty professional's appearance - is there anything that you would look out for, either good or bad?
And any tips on presentation? I am (usually!) clean but tend to look rather untidy!

Thanks peeps

Nothing worse than untidy hair (IMO).. you should invest in a uniform as it always looks so professional and you'll feel much better wearing one. Also for me I think long earings are very unprofessional looking, same goes for all jewlery really like braclets and rings... less is more as they say:)

Good luck with your new venture:hug:

Hi Karen, I defo agree with you about jewellery and will be going for some sort of uniform (perhaps not a "traditional" one as I spent years as a nurse and have had it with tunics!). It's my hair that worries me! It's just...untidy, I go to a brilliant stylist and use great products, it's just that sort of hair! it's fine and wavy but there is LOADS of it. I can't have it short as I look like Gary Barlow wearing a hat/a mushroom, it takes hours and hours to blow dry or straighten, so it's going to have to be long and tied back.
Anyone have any tips on making unruly hair look less chaotic? It's nice hair, good condition and a nice colour, it's just not very neat! My going-out looks all involve scrunching or backcombing, I am definitely a bed-head type gal :(

Ok... now I have a really funny image of you in my head:lol:

My hair used to be the very same a few years back.. very curly, but not long enough to put up, which was a pain in college.. so I discovered the good old GHD and have been straight and sleek ever since. I think once you look clean and wear a uniform your clients will forgive the Gary Barlow head:).. he he only messin'

I can do French plaits, they are certainly tidy but they look a bit 80s and not in a good way! Perhaps I can make them popular again. Or maybe I could wear a balaclava?
