I'm curious to know of those of you who did a Beauty Therapy qualification in make-up do you call yourselves make-up artists on your ads etc?

anyone? lol

i do and i am proud if it !!! it is an art sometimes lol. when you have a blank canvas and you create a miricle xx:o i qualified in cosmetic makeup and airbrush make up . i love it x

No I don't agree that you can.

The training received in Make-up as part of the Beauty training is pants and there is no way you could compare to a MUA with specialist training. There are many styles and techniques that are not taught through the Beauty make-up training therefore if you do advertise as a MUA then you may find yourself being asked to do a job that's out of your depth.

Make-up Artists have basic training in skincare but could they call themselves a Facialist or Beautician?

after the general training you get.. you can revisit many places try muse london, i work for a photographer now and as fashion changes so does the styes... sometimes but you will always have the classic.. if you are not comfortable in caling yourself an MUA then on your cards flyers etc .... ofer a proffesional makeup service. xx but was your traning general beauty or was it a cosmetology course . you know the fundamental basics and the foundation is the most important part , IN MY oppinion anyway , x good luck

I call myself a nail therapist first and foremost. I will answer to beauty therapist as I am trained in most areas of basic beauty waxing/tinting atc although I don't do as much of these treatments as I used to. I have done specialist makeup and bridal hair training recently and use professional products. I am building my portfolio up now. I feel I can call myself a makeup artist, as I have done the relevant training, I am gaining the valuable relevant experience, I have the kit to cover most calls, proms/wedding/catwalk/glamour etc. I plan on marketing myself seperately as a makeup artist as its something I love and i'm good at. First and foremost I am a nail tech though! x x

Thanks for your help, next I'm going to do a specialised course in bridal make-up and a short course in fashion and media makeup! :D
