Make-Up

Hello all,

Does anyone specialise in Make-up? If so do you earn much money and do you have regular bookings? Also would it be best to go on a special course to tailor my skills so to speak?

I would like to specialise in bridal hair and make up once I have done my NVQ's of course, I have always loved make-up! I would do other beauty therapy treatments as a more a side line on dates where I wouldn't be doing the bridal.

I specialise in makeup and I am starting a hair course in August so I can add this on aswell. As for money it depends really on how many weddings you do and how many of the wedding party have their makeup done, there does seem to be more and more these days, I have a booking for 8 and another for 7. I did a beauty course years ago, then did a media makeup course but have topped both of those up with a course at a private makeup school in Manchester. It is really enjoyable to do but can be quite stressful sometimes.

HI, i guess its a long time since you last posted here. I live in lancashire and was wanting to know how you got on with your hair course? did you learn a lot on the course? if yes, where did you do the course from? how much did it cost? and how many days was it for? hope to hear fm you thanks.

Hi, The course was a fashion and editorial hair course at School of Makeup in Manchester, it was a course that lasted a week and was very intensive. I did enjoy it, although hair isnt a strong point of mine it does benefit me now when I work on photoshoots as i am confident to do some hair styling. We went through basics of bridal hair aswell but I dont think we covered enough to say I could be confident in hair for bridal work. I cant remember the cost, think it was around £900 inlcuding a small hair kit.
