Hi a quick question..Can a qualified nail tech , qualified in enhancements only perform manicures and pedicures? or do they have to be qualified in this? Thanks in advance x

Hi
I would'nt hun ,if you care about your clients nails,as its like me doing acrylic on clients when iv not done any training in acrylic, id like to do the training first .When i did my training you could'nt do nail enhancements with out doing manicure and ped first .Thats my advice.hth.xxxxx

The college I go to won't even train you to do any form of enhancements until you have done a manicure course. I thought that was standard practice.

The same at my college you can't even do nail art until you have your level 2, which has taken nearly a year to get and many assignments later

nowhere should be training in enhancements without a recognised manicure qualification first. i am shocked if that is the case

even here, with our very different system, I first trained in mani before holding a brush

My college is the same, you have to do the manicure/pedicure course before you can do any of the other nail courses. I also thought it was standard practice.

Any tom **** or harry can perform manicures and pedicures and even enhancements if they like...but if you care about your clients, your reputation and respect this industry and everyone in it that works hard to make a good name for themselves and the whole industry in general then you would gain the appropriate training and quaifications in all the services that you plan to carry out.
You may also invalidate your insurance if you do not have the appropriate recognised qualifications.

I had to read the question a couple of times as it confused me little (sorry busy day and I'm shattered ... brain cell shutting down for the night ) ... as with the other replies above, I wasn't allowed to complete the nail enhancements course until I'd passed the manicure course. It was explained that you need to know the anatomy of the hand/nail before being let loose with abrasives and chemicals and you could fully appreciate the damage you could cause if you didn't know what you were doing.

The question i was asking if you are qualifies in nail enhancements can you perform manicures and pedicures without being qualified in manicures and pedicures?? a friend of mine has done an intense enhancment course but has not completed manis and pedis course?? she wants to perform manis and pedis but is not qualified in them. They did show how to do these but the qualification gained was in enhancements only.

yes she can but it would be probably be in her interests and especially her clients to do a seperate course on manicures and pedicures .

It depends on her enhancement training tbh. The Creative Foundation Course covers manicures in enough depth for you to be able to offer them and be covered on your insurance, but I'm not sure about other companies....... I offer manis on this basis but not pedis because I have had any pedi training. I do offer gel toes though.

Your friend needs to speak to her training provider and her insurance company really.....
