Hi all,
Just a quick question for all you mobile beauticians. Do any of you not do late evenings or evening pamper parties?
I love doing spray tan parties but not a fan of the other things I do. In such a short space of time. I've got a client next week that wants 4 manicure pedicures plus 5 teenage girls nails painted all to be done in just 2 hours! I feel I won't give them the proper pampering they are looking for in such a short space of time. I asked for more time but she's adiment it has to be 2 hours! I was going to decline it but my college I studied at recommended me to her so I can't get out of it! Not sure what to do there really but have no choice but to get on and do it!
To be honest I don't enjoy doing those sort of evening parties anyway. Does anyone else not do parties? Just would like to no your thoughts on it really.

if you don't enjoy doing pamper parties then don't do them! that's one of the perks of having your own business, you don't have to do anything you aren't happy doing :) I don't do weddings for that very reason but if someone enquires i refer them to a friend who specialises in them. She is able to offer them a much better service because she enjoys what she does...perhaps you could refer your pamper party to someone else?

Yes your right! Thank you! The only thing is I don't no anyone who's mobile and does pamper parties? Should I recommend yellow pages?

You need to get a nail tech friend to help you in situations like this. There's no way you can do all that in 2 hours. I do pamper parties with a qualified friend. It's more fun too if you do it together, you feel like you have more support.

Can you think of anyone from college who you're in touch with to help you out?

There isn't coz when I trained it was one on one most of the time at my college which for me was brilliant but now would be great to no some one! My friend has offered to paint the 5 girls nails for them but she isn't qualified but she is good. It would help me a little as I can get on with the mani and pedis! I think if I give them a 5 minute foot massage then paint there toes then 5 minute hand massage and paint their nails do it that way? It makes me feel sick coz I no that's not the proper way to do things but its the nearest thing I can do for them all in 2 hours.

As already said if you do not want to take a booking you do not have to. Just say sorry I am unavailable on that date or I am fully booked or I do not do large group bookings etc...

You could also tell the client that her request is just not possible for you to complete in the time frame she has and tell her she will have to continue looking for a therapist or 2 to fulfill her needs.

The joy of being self employed is doing what you love and turning away things you do not wish to do. I qualified in many treatments but have chosen not to offer the ones I didn't enjoy doing.

I would prefer not to work than to be doing something I dislike doing so much that it stresses me out just thinking about it.

I agree with the other posts here, tell her it's just not possible to do a good job in the timeframe she's giving you. I also draft a therapists friend in when I need her for these situations but it can still be stressful! I do enjoy them though so it's worth it for me. If you really hate it, drop it! Life's too short!
