What techniques do you use to prevent from filing and cutting your own fingers? I'm always so busy trying to protect the clients fingers that I cut up mine in the process.
If that is happening then your posture when working is incorrect and eventually you will suffer with even more problems.
Firstly your elbows should not be tucked in at your sides when filing! And for sure that is the way you are working.
Your arms should be resting on the surface of your desk and the elbow of the hand that is grasping the clients finger should be at 90º to the side of your body; this will throw your grasping hand and wrist at the proper angle to keep your fingers out of the way of the file.
The thumb on your grasping hand should NOT be laying alongside the finger you are holding ... your thumb should be in line with your wrist which should bi in line with your elbow at 90º to your body.
The three fingers you use to grasp the finger of the client should be thus ...
Thumb and index finger holding the clients finger ... your middle finger tucked under the clients finger to support it.
Working like this opens a huge window in which to operate your file instead of working all scrunched up the way you are doing now. HTH
