Hi

Apart from doing freehand nail art designs on natural nails, is it poss to incorporate glitters into natural nails nail art? I've got some loose glitter but it's impossible to sprinkle it on without it going everywhere! And how could I get it just in one specific place? (ie, glitter tips). I've got some glitter polishes but they're just not dense enough. I want to be able to offer more varieties of nail art for manicures but just don't know what else to do really.

Many thanks

avoid putting glitters directly on the nail plate, always put a thin layer of resin, L&P or gel, jsut to protect the nail from coloring/yellowing

When you are ready to put the glitter on - use a clear polish and apply exactly where you want the glitter to be, then with the glitter in a small pot, ask your client to dip her finger into the glitter and lift it back out. Whilst it's still over the pot give the side of the finger a couple of taps to remove loose glitter. Then leave to dry for a bit before adding your clear top coat polish.
If you do all this over a a sheet of paper, you can then collect the glitter back up and put back in pot.
Use a thin layer of polish to attach the glitter and dip straight away. If you use a thick coat of polish, you'll get loads of glitter and a lumpy finish.

you could buy nail tip glue, the sort that comes with a brush and paint it on where you want the glitter to go same as with rhinestones, then cover with a top coat or:green:
While I was in hobby craft yesterday, in the children's craft section I saw some small pots of acid free glitter glue, its in the same sort of small pots that the paint by numbers paint comes in and there were 10 or 12 colours in a strip. If you are nifty with a pair of scissors you could cut our leaf shapes from craft paper, maybe use the decoupage paper for flowers. On a natural nail I think you would have to coat both sides of the paper with varnish to stop colour run from the paper, or maybe if its laid onto a base coated nail thats still tacky but not wet it would be enough, then you could accent with the glitter glue or your glitter stripper pens, it would be a slow job though because it would all have to be totally dry before you float your top coat over the top to seal it or the design will run.
you can also stencil paint on natural nails with or without an air gun. Really so long as the natural nail is good and you use a good base coat then you can just let your imagination run riot, yes you have to keep it thin, you cant really encase the way you can with acrylic but a trip to hobby craft or similar shop should give you loads of ideas:lol::hug:

Apply base coat to ten nails.Apply the colour you want to use, ensuring good colour coverage on all ten nails. use your seal polish ,Put tip of glitter in mixer seal, allow the first drop of mixer to fall off the brush, hen roll into the glitter and pick up the glitter dust.Place onto the polished nail and press and work down the nail into required shapes.Remember to flatten down the glitter or the design will be too proud. Dont forget to apply top coat when finished .HTH.xx

i do same as bev when it comes to nail art ,i base coat & paint the nail in clients own choice and seal it first with a top coat then do the art when thats dry i apply the glitter from a small pot then i give the side of the finger a couple of taps to remove loose glitter. when dry i use an old blusher brush to sweep away the remains then add an extra clear top coat polish to seal.
