Hi everyone, I've done L&P course but I'm also intrested in nail art can anyone advise me on what i should be looking for. I thought I would practice at home before I booked on to any courses. I wanted to buy some nail art pens to start with but I'm not sure what make to buy - can anyone help? Also when you have used art pens do you need to set paint buy using a UV lamp? Sorry I've got so many questions.

Hiya,
You don't need to go too mad at first...but you will ger hooked once you start nail arting...!

i suggest a few paints, defo black, white and pink....a dotting tool, a striping brush and a detail brush. then all you need is a rhinestone wheel and maybe a silver glitter striper.

you can do LOADS with these few items, flowers and leaves, animal stripes, dots and swirls...then just accent with a flick of glitter a rhinestone here and there and hey presto...

There are loads of design ideas in the gallery on this site.....a great place to get inspiration, lots of people see a design they like and have a go at creating their own versions of that design.

and btw... you don't need a UV lamp for hand painted nail art.

HTH
Becks....post us some pics of your first attempts, we love to see them...

i find acrylics easier than the art pens they dry quicker and also go on the nail better

i am inclined to agree...although the nubar stripers are excellent quality, i prefer acrylic paints and a good quality brush...so many more options...you can use lots of diff brushes and mix colours etc.

nail art is all in your head. i am always looking for color schemes and after i see one i let my imagination take over.
