I have had enhancements on basically since I learned how to do it, about 3 months ago. Chopped and changed them, but have had them on. No 'naked nails'.
I decided to take them off for a little while, til I get bored again, and have noticed that my nail beds are much longer. Do you think this is due to having the enhancements on, and not faffing about with my own nails so much??
They are looking quite good actually....:green:

My guess is, that it is due to the fact that your natural nails were rather short to begin with. Whether by biting or just breaking as they do. That your nails have had a chance to grow just as naturally as they should and your nail bed has re-attached itself to where it really should be.

All I can say to you is........well done for getting this far & not wreaking havoc on your own natural nails as a result of being a 'newbie' to nails.

Exactly. I lurve my nail beds after a while of wearing enhancements.... I thought it was amazing when I first noticed.

same here i love my own natural nails. they seem to be stronger and are a nice length after wearing enhancements for a while. :)

Ok, this is a wild guess, but I would say very simply that you have probably preserved the health of your nails in general through wearing enhancements all your life. Plus whoever has done your nails has obviously done a great job.

Gel strengthens the natural nail and offers protection. No chipping, pealing, breaking etc..... also when one has enhancements, one tends to not pick at or abuse ones nails because having the enhancements done in the first place is costly. You also need to maintain the health of the eponychium, sidewalls and have cuticle regularly removed, therefor the overall state of the nails and surrounding tissue is kept in tip top form ie. neat sidewalls and eponychium. This plus a balanced healthy diet to help condition nails.

Whilst at beauty college, I had to have short nails at all times, therefore, I did not grow them at all for 10 months and they had to be neat and tidy always. They were constantly manicure as we were practicing on eachother all the time.

Well, the reason I mention this is because since leaving college, I have regrown my nails and they are the best they have ever been.

I have never been able to have them this long naturally without them breaking and chipping. They are strong and healthy and long and feminine and have been for weeks now. I put it down to their constant maintenance and care over the past year.

This really is guess work, but I'm a simple peep afterall, lol .

yes regular manicures ,keeping these eponychiums and sidewalls in good condition, keeping the dryness of the hands at bay and a good nail tech that uses solar oil and the use of solar oil yourself does natural nails the world of good ...to be honest i love my P&W enhancements which i had put on and taken off again within a week on returning to college as you have to keep your nails short and the wearing of enhancements is not suitable. since leaving college i haven't had nail enhancements on since then and my natural nails look great.

Plus whoever has done your nails has obviously done a great job. That would be me!!! *pats oneself on the back for a job well done!!"

My nails have never been very strong, and tend to split very easily. If they didnt break off, I tended to nibble them back to my nail bed, which made them shorter. This is the first time they have had a chance to recover - unhindered, and although my nail beds are nice and long, my nails are still quite weak. I have to admit, when I do pay attention to my own nails they do become longer and stronger. Its just a busmans holiday sometimes keeping my own nails in check:rolleyes:
