Looks like standard onycholisis to me. Why it's happened could be many many things, illness, poorly cared for previous enhancements, a nervous tick/habit, over zealous cleaning of under the nail, are just few things
I agree. It looks very similar to a problem I had a while ago. I had not realised that I had developed a habit of pushing my thumb nail behind my ring finger nail. I had mentioned it to a nail tech colleague and one day she spotted my 'habit'. I managed to break it in the end and nail have a healthy nail.
