I would dearly love some help on nail foils!
I have read all the posts on it, but mine's still very patchy looking. I'm leaving the glue on until it's almost dry. Do you apply more adhesive and apply more foil until you get a solid look or is it just one application?
 Many thanks, Sam.

it really does depend, we have a video on our how to page for help,we thank some wonderful person on you tube, sometimes it takes more than one application but other times it can be done in one, you have o really make sure the adhesive is put on evenly and rub the foil all over to make sure it all sticks x

Thank you, i'll have a look at the video. xx

I've just realised, looking at your website Nail Delights, i ordered my foils and adhesive from you!! Video was really helpful, thanks!! xx

not a problem x

are you taking it off quickly enough?
i had a few problems with mine but i have found whipping it off really fast helps so much and even the silver one stays on as a whole nail

Hi!

Just a thought....have you tried using Minx?

Check them out at www.sweetsquared.com plus there are loads of threads about Minx on here if you do a search.

I'm suggesting Minx, as you can get the true metallic look with Minx and there are much easier (IMO) to apply than foiling and are dry all the way through the application - never need to worry about them taking hours to dry, as I have found in the past with foils. Just a lovely product that will impress your clients & get them coming back for more.
They last a couple of months on toes & I have had them on my fingernails for 2+ weeks with no problems, even doing my job!

My foiling kit has gathered quite a bit of dust since I started Minxing!

Hi

I do both minx and nail foils. I think both give a totally different effect. Minx is a wonderful product that lasts weeks where nail foils last a week tops (but that could be my technique)

I think if a client wants a look that will last just the night for that special occasion, then foils is the way, where if a client wants to spend the extra for the fab look of minx, then minx away!!!!!!

Foils at first was a little tricky to grasp for me and was sometimes a royal pain in the butt:irked: where patches were missing and you have to spend ages touching up.

i apply a thin and even layer of foil adhesive and put it under my nail dryer until the glue goes totally transparent but still a bit tacky. Apply the foil to the nail and use some pressure to rub the nail and use a hoof stick to really get into the grooves, lift up the foil a little and see if there are any missing patches. If there are, replace the foil and rub away again. Then top coat and you are done

Minx is a lot less of a faff, but you need to practice and practice to get it 100%.

Good luck

xxxx

The longer you leave the adhesive the better. Any tiny bit of white showing and the foil won't stick. The adhesive often shrinks away from the sides so reapply if necessary.

Press firmly all over and down sides making sure all of nail is covered then whip off very quickly. Can be pressed on any missing bits

Thanks everyone, really helpful. I will try minx too as the girl i stopped in River Island last week! had a fab solid silver on her nails. I get the impression foil is a bit patchy, good for an effect but minx will cover the whole nail, the look i'm after. xx

Hi there.

I was under the impression that foil was for embedding under clear acrylic rather than using with polish??

Ive never seen it used just under a top coat if thats what you mean?

Sorry its just dawned on me what nail foil you are talking about, the one you lay over polish. my mistake.

Are you using a foil sealer? Some top coats are 'too strong' and react with the foil. If you're using the recommended top coat and adhesive and this is still happening I suggest you contact the supplier.

I've used foils at various times over the years and never have any trouble

what do you mean when you say you encase foils in acrylics do u mean you seal the foil with acrylics
